::The intensity of her response surprised Manuel. Apparently, without intending to, he had struck a nerve. He looked at her curiously, truly not understanding what would have set her off. As far as he was concerned, the Brotherhood did what was necessary to protect mutants.:: "Does the Brotherhood have a type I wasn't aware of?"

Shade wasn´t sure what he meant by that. Maybe Manuel was just playing with words, but the situation and the tenseness that came with it did not get her into the mood of verbal bantering. "I don´t know." she therefore responded, keeping a watchful eye on the other one. "I just know that I have no ties with them. So if you´re looking to get in there, I´m sorry I can´t help you."
It wasn´t really an apology, more like an undermining of her previous statement. She had come to a close with her doings with Magneto and she stood by it. Whether this other mutant was a stranger or not, whether she had decided not to tell him personal things or not, her allegiance might stay hidden (which wasn´t difficult, since Shade had never committed herself to any "side" with full consequences of fighting with one side or the other), but she was too emotional a person to be able to completely hide that her allegiances lay elsewhere, but not with Erik Lensherr.

::There was more to the matter than what this Shade admitted; Manuel could sense that easily, and if he weren't so tired or so angry, he might give it more rational thought. Instead, he simply regarded her and said,:: "My mistake then."

"No problem." Shade said, looking up. With all the confusion and mixed feelings that these hours awoke, it was better not to concentrate on Magneto, because that only got her more annoyed and upset. Still, she couldn´t help but remember his promise. That he would help her have her revenge, and that this promise had just been a bait. She had shunned away from that, she was no killer, but having to face these two that were probably still looking for them had made her wonder. And it had brought her to the conclusion thad she would have her revenge. Not in the way Magneto had promised her, but in another. She would get others involved. Now she knew their faces. She knew who they were. That would be enough. But first, she needed to get out.
She fought down the anger, mixed anger at Magneto and those they were hiding from and forced herself to focus. To listen. Things had gotten more quiet and even though she still felt tired she guessed that she was now strong enough to be able to use her powers again. She could usually tell. "We should go." she said, still listening and looking up, trying to make out whether there was really no more noise upstairs. It remained silent. "and get out of here."

::Her determination to leave was counter to the emotions which overwhelmed her, and nearly overwhelmed Manuel: desire for revenge, for blood. It fed into his own intense anger at the situation. Pushing himself up, he went for broke and said,:: "We shouldn't leave without keeping them from being able to come after us."

Shade had risen to her feet as well, still alert and nervous about what was going on, her heart beating faster than usual. At his words, she shot him a glance. "They have guns." she said. "and I know they make use of them." Since the two men had not done so earlier, this was giving away quite a bit, but Shade was not aware of it. "I for one don´t feel like pulling a hero. We should get our butts out of here first and then see what we can do about them." She didn´t know what his plans were but even though she didn´t know more about this guy than his name, she felt slight annoyance at the thought that he would so easily jeopardize the freedom she had gotten him.

::There was something more there, something important which Manuel was on the verge of tapping, but not quite yet. He pushed himself to unsteady feet and asked,:: "How do you know they have guns?"

Shade stared at him for a moment, realising what she had just said. Her fury, her anger and hate that had risen inside her ever since she had discovered those idiots were holding a hostage and all the more after she had identified them had triggered the memories she had tried to come to terms with so long. "Because I saw them do it." she meant to say for a moment, but then did something else. She walked over to where she had been sitting and took the gun she had put there. One of the two, the one who had been following them earlier, had dropped it when he had tripped on the stairs. She held it up wordlessly. It felt strange to hold a gun and she didn´t like the feeling. "The guy who followed us dropped his. So I guess his buddy has one too." she said.

::Manuel was weary and angry, and this experience had caused something within him to snap. He wasn't usually the type to push, but he wanted to know what she was hiding. Her anger and hatred were threatening to overcome his barriers, and he was motivated by that as much as his own. He felt a sense of kindred spirit in her because of this matching anger. He shook his head and said,:: "There's more to it, isn't there?"

She narrowed her eyes slightly, still holding the gun in her hand, but holding it like she would have held any other item, betraying the fact that she had no idea about weapons. In fact, the only gun she had every fired had been a fake laser gun.
Shade, even though she could be quite trusting around those she knew well, wasn´t the person to tell her story to strangers, especially not in situations like this. Of course there was more to it and the fact that he could tell warned her. She had made assumptions about his powers earlier and that kept her alert because she knew next to nothing about him. Therefore she mirrored his reaction, shaking her head. "It doesn´t matter here." she said. Not now. Not that she had to make sure to get away. She could vent her anger later, she was rational enough to know that this was not the time. Still that didn´t help to keep her emotions at bay and even though her face and voice hid most of it, her eyes didn´t.

::Once Manuel was on steady feet and able to walk, he took a step towards her. Not threatening, merely trying to get closer for what he considered an important conversation.:: "They're after us, and we're on the run. I'd say it matters more here than it does anywhere else."

Shade shook her head and grabbed the gun a bit more firmly. "It doesn´t." she said, keeping eye contact to show her determination. He was not involved with this, this was her story and she didn´t tell it freely. "All I´m gonna say is I saw them before and there they were armed. We don´t need to know more to know they are dangerous." She unceremoniously stuffed the gun into her belt, then took it out again. It made her feel more secure. "We just need to get out of here and I´ll manage that with my powers."

::She had had a run-in with them, and the fact that she had managed to live through this and not want to take revenge, or at the very least stop them from doing this again fueled Manuel's rage. If she had stopped these men the first time, he would have been left alone, would have been at home comfortably. He would not let her make the same mistake twice, nor would he make it at all. Feigning resignation, he nodded and sighed, holding out his hand.:: "All right."

Only when he seemed to give in did Shade notice that she had even slightly raised her voice. Not much, but a clear sign that told her that her anger was boiling up again. And it wasn´t even anger directed at Manuel, he was just in the unlucky position of being the one who challenged her to tell him more right now where she didn´t want to tell more. This was her story and only those she trusted completely knew it. And not all of these persons either.
She nodded briefly and took his outstretched hand as a sign that he gave in to her and that there would be no more discussion. Good, she thought. Everything else would only make things more dangerous. She needed to get out of here, they needed to and that as quickly as possible. She firmly grabbed his hands and started to work her powers, extending invisibility to him quickly. Her powers had mostly recovered.

::Perhaps Manuel should feel remorse for what he was about to do, but he was angry, and this was self-preservation. Nobody would suffer this torment or these indignities, and if he had to use his powers to ensure that end, so be it. If he were a better debater, perhaps he could have persuaded her with words instead, but that was moot. They - he and this Shade - would stop these men once and for all. His eyes blazed with anger, not directed at her completely, although there was a degree of resentment that she had let these men escape once, but that was balanced by the fact that she had saved his life. To his way of thinking, that balance meant he owed her nothing. No, he was angry at them and at the situation. Through his hands, his powers flared, seeking out her anger and making it match his own: an all-consuming fury that would only dissipate when those men were disposed of, once and for all. It was not a difficult feat, considering that the anger was already within her, and he had a seemingly-bottomless supply himself after his torture. Apart from his empathy, he had a limited degree of memory manipulation, those related to strong emotions; memories had emotional states after all. And in rechanneling her anger, he wasn't as careful as he should have been; he let the fury take over, clouding over her memories apart from being here and needing to kill them before they killed again.::
