"There are no immidiate changes." Shade said looking ahead in a thoughtful but not brooding way. "Just developments."

::The use of "no immediate changes" reminded the Professor of countless discussions with Erik, where he had made a similar argument. The other man had never been satisfied, and he had never listened, which had only helped to lead them to where they were.:: "That is correct, however, it is a matter of communicating this to others. Despite our very existence, we have states which do not wish to teach evolution in school because of misunderstanding its nature."

This had always been something Shade had never understood. "Or because they too backwards." she said. "taking things literally that shouldn´t be taken literally and ignoring things that noone in their right mind could ignore." She was not holding grudges of a personal nature here, but an attitude like that just made her frown. She accepted religion, she had been raised Christian as well even though not in a traditional way. Extreme forms bewildered her.

::"Backward" had been one of Erik's words, one for which the Professor had never cared; it was both judgmental and elitist. He preferred milder terms, such as "uninformed.":: "To be fair, it is not all religious entities, nor is it confined to the religious realm. It is simply prevelant there to outspokenness."

Shade nodded with a small sigh. "I know." she said. "it just things that are difficult to sort out for me. I never came around much before I came here." She had grown up in a small town community which meant she had lived protected from many things. Even though she had matured a lot over the last year and lost a good deal of her naiveness and carelessness, it was still difficult to evaluate some things. "I guess the older one gets the easier it is to get a balanced viewpoint on things." she added.

::The Professor understood the effects of being sheltered on one's perception of the world, and the fact that Shade had come a long way, both in terms of distance and in terms of her own personality played a large part in her ability to comprehend now. Thoughts of Erik drifted into his mind, at the mention of age; if anything, age had made his old friend more radical.:: "It generally is, although it is also possible to become more ingrained in one's way of thinking."

Shade nodded, wondering whether he was referring to Magneto. She had never seen him that way but her last conversation with him had shown her that Magneto accepted no opinion besides his own even if others had valid arguments. "Like Magneto?" she therefore asked, unconsciously using the other man´s mutant name again. She had called him Erik before her decision to leave the Brotherhood and even some time after, but no more. Calling others by their mutant names usually was no way of demonstrating distance. Gambit and Rogue were Gambit and Rogue, not Remy and Marie. But Magneto was an exception. Erik had been her friend, Magneto was not.

::The Professor had certainly thought of Erik when responding, but he was hardly the only example of such a person.:: "Yes, like him, but also politically, socially and techonologically you will find that the demographic least likely to accept change is my demographic."
