::The speed of the change in topic was almost comforting to Pietro. He was used to his racing thoughts, to topics winking in and out of existence before another could blink. It was normal to him, and for others perhaps the quick change would be seen as rude or as avoidance, but he barely noticed it on such terms.
The topic she had chosen was less comfortable, and he had to think back to when they had last spoken for her to make a comment. He had a good memory, but it was not always precise. It had been months since they'd last had reason to interact, and to him, it felt like decades. Details could be lost easily. But he had to assume it had been sometime after yet another fight with someone, and he had been injured. He shrugged slightly.:: "No fights this week."

For some reason she sometimes found his answers amusing. She couldn´t exactly tell why and surely would not have openly shown that amusement because it would likely have led to him feeling insulted and her acting up against such an accusation, but she chuckled inwardly at the frequency of one liners - or rather half liners - he dropped to her most of the time.
"No fights, no bandages." she agreed. Last time she had seen him he had barely been recognizable. The mention of bandages was yet just another observation, no insult intended, but not half veiling the somewhat affectionate teasing tone she reserved for friends and close ones, either. "must´ve been a good week."

::Considering how low Pietro set the criteria for a "good" week, or rather, the frequency of events which led to "bad" weeks, one could say that. He reserved the term "good" for special events, and thus it was infrequent. Few people used that same set of criteria however. And compared to the next week, when Rossignol was to leave, it was good.:: "Better than the next one."

Shade crooked half a smirk. "Still the same old Pietro even without the bandages, huh?" she asked. "sometimes I wonder what would have to happen to have to get a more positive outlook on life."

::The conversation wasn't as aggravating as several of their other ones. Pietro thought for the briefest of moments that if she hadn't been a friend of the Rogue girl's and thus untrustworthy, they might have gotten off on a better foot. But he wasn't one for whimsical "what if" scenarios.:: "There's more than enough positive people to balance my outlook."

Shade had to bite back a chuckle and merely raised an eyebrow at him. "That almost sounds like you like being the guy with the Yin Attitude."

::Pietro had taken a basic comparative religion course shortly before completely losing his faith. He hadn't taken particular interest in Eastern religions and philosophy, and though he recognized the term, he no longer could explain the full differences between yin and yang. However, one aspect stuck out, which came from the fact that he had never been described as such.:: "Isn't yin tranquil?"

"As far as I know Yin symbolises shadow, yang light. So yin attitude sounded fitting." She shifted to cross her arms behind her head, leaning against the tree. "Even though if you ask me, I guess the idea in itself is kind of incomplete. Not that I´m an expert there."

::Pietro preferred concrete answers, which was another reason he hadn't cared for that particular class. Not that Uncle had listened; the other man had given a lecture about the importance of being well-rounded and the necessity of advanced placement credit. He rested his hands on either side of him in the grass.:: "I'm not an expert either, but I was taught that yang was blinding light and aggressive passion, like the sun. Yin was shadow, reflective like the moon. Gentle."

It was a reasonable answer, even though part of Shade pouted a little at the fact that, even though Pietro had probably no idea at all about verbal bantering, he had maybe accidentally pointed out a loophole for her. She of course didn´t let that show, she was not at ease enough around him to let that happen. "Well," she just said. "I guess that ruins my nice little theory then."

::Shade was correct in her assumption that Pietro was unfamiliar with the ins and outs of verbal banter; it was one of the hundreds of things in this world for which he had no patience.:: "To go back to what you said, I prefer my outlook."

Shade preferred not to go deeper into their previous exchange, also since Pietro seemed to have finished with that anyways. "I don´t think that would be a philosophy I could take on." she said. "doesn´t it pull you down and things?"

::It was a peculiar phrasing, and despite his years in America, English wasn't Pietro's native tongue. Colloquialisms could confuse him, if he weren't already familiar with the usage.:: "Pull me down as in depress me?"

Shade nodded. "Yes." she said.

::Pietro shook his head slightly. His outlook stemmed from the fact that he saw optimistic people as naive, and his own perceptions as normal and realistic. It did not depress him, which he viewed as being a negative emotional state, equally warped as the optimistic. Since his sessions with Samson had begun, and he had received the diagnoses, he was a bit tenser about the idea.:: "No. It's not depressing."
