(( Coming from The Human World :: New York City :: The Hellfire Club :: At the club again ))
Remy's bike took him and Shade to a pizza place Gambit knew was good. She suggested a pizzeria, and he liked the idea, so they ended up here, on the second floor, taking a booth by the window that looked out over the street.

She took off her jacket and draped it over the chair, taking a fascinated look out of the window as she sat down. "That’s what I call a pretty place" she said beaming.

Gambit's smile was as wide as hers. She was a tricky personality for him, and a rather challenging companion - something he hadn't experienced for quite a while - and making right guesses about what she could like exhilarated him as if she was a complex lock he had to pick.
"Glad you like it, chere," he said, summing up all that went through his head. "As far as I know, pizzas here are just as good."
He gave her a menu, taking another one for himself.

"Good." she said, taking the menu from him with a broad smile.
She brushed a hand behind her ear absent mindedly and had a look inside, leafing through it, until after some seconds she realized she had not taken in what she was reading. She started again, shortly looking up from the corners of her eyes to see what he was doing. He was a nice guy, she noticed, more than nice actually. Still she felt like a teenager in a way and was slightly annoyed with herself about that.
"Hm..." she said, concentrating on the menu again. "This one sounds good."

"Indulge yourself, then," Remy smiled.
A waitress arrived and took their orders. Remy added soda to that, and they were left alone again. He glanced at the street outside, resting his chin on propped-up hands with fingers locked.
"Funny, I don't get out dat much lately," he noted almost absent-mindedly.
(( I kinda decided to save us the trouble of ordering ))

She followed his gaze down the street, watching the cars rush past.
"Same here" she said. "I’ve not been out much since I arrived in the city actually. Been out to Central Park a couple of times but that’s about it." And certainly not to a restaurant with some guy, she added in thought.
Posted by Gambit on Apr 18, 2007, 23:39
"Oh yes, de ice-cream vendor terrorist," Remy nodded, looking back at her. "How long ya been here, actually?"
Posted by Shade on Apr 18, 2007, 23:40
She grinned at that. "Exactly." she said. "Well... how long? Since September ." She didn’t remember the exact date, but it had been in the first half of the month.
Posted by Gambit on Apr 18, 2007, 23:46
"Dieu!" he shook his head in disbelief. He was used to constantly moving from place to place, to exploring new domains thoroughly so that he could orient himself perfectly in urban atmosphere. He felt blind unless he knew every brick in the neighborhood - it came with the lifestyle of a thief. What Shade said to him now, was really hard to grasp. "Ya seriously gotta catch up on your New York visits now, cheri."
Posted by Shade on Apr 18, 2007, 23:49
"I think so" she said. "I still feel somewhat like a tourist. I guess these last months have just been somewhat... busy."
That was a strange way of describing it. She had mainly stayed at the mansion or had been moving between the mansion and the lair. Between that, there had been lessons to be prepared but that had not eaten up all of her free time which, as she now noticed has mostly spent somewhere on the grounds.

"Take a vacation," Remy suggested. "Even if just a few days. I'll show you around-- when I'm back."
He fastidiously avoided the word 'if'. Tracking Sinister down and staying in shadow couldn't be that bad, not at this time when Sinister wasn't tracking Gambit himself - and Gambit would have felt it if Sinister did.

"Vacation sounds great" Shade said, her voice drifting off. "Been a while since I’ve had one." She looked at him and propped her chin on a hand. "So tell me, where could you take me. Imagining vacation’s almost like having one."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 0:10
"You're right, it is," Remy agreed. He thought for a second, looking outside, then turned back at her. "Basically, anythin' from de Empire State to Six Flags," Remy said. "The Village, Brooklyn Bridge, de usual stuff... But actually, dere's more to do in New York dan to see."
(( I'm not sure at the moment, but I think there's Six Flags somewhere across Hudson opposite of Westchester, so should be kinda close to the Institute ))
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 0:12
"I bet." she agreed. "So far I’ve not been around much, so all of this sounds like fun."
She looked at him. "I’ll take you by your word." she said.
((*googles Six Flags* Oh, yay rollercoasters ))

"Be my guest," Gambit winked.
The waitress brought their pizzas and drinks, and only when he caught the smell, Remy realized how hungry he really was. It was a terrific idea to get a pizza, he thought - considering the long and tiring night that lay ahead of him, it just might be his last chance to grab a bite.
"My day jus' keeps gettin' better 'n better," he remarked before taking a bite of his pizza.
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 0:18
She tried the pizza and found it was delicious, only realizing the moment she did her first bite how hungry she had been.
"So is mine." she replied after having swallowed.
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 0:35
He could tell it by the look on her face, and still it was good to hear her say it to him.
"So does dat mean every time you come t' Gambit's club feelin' down, a good meal is a sho way to cheer ya up?" Remy inquired, drinking his soda.
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 0:37
She grinned. "Yeah." she said. "I’m a lot like a big kid. I can be a little ... gloomy at times, but it’s never really hard to cheer my up again."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 0:49
"So it's definitely Six Flags," Remy concluded, taking another bite of his pizza.
It felt good being around her. Most women in his company tended to don femme fatale images, trying to match his seductive charm, and doing so they looked artificial at times, while he was just being himself. And so was Shade right now - and he enjoyed her easy and natural attitude. He was not used to sincerity around him - not in his circles, and it almost made him dizzy like fresh mountain air gets people high with oxygen.
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 0:53
"Definitely" she said with a grin before taking another bite. "Although, in case I forget, remind me to be careful about loopings."
She realised she was actually having fun. Maybe she should listen to her intentions more often, she decided, intentions telling her to act on a whim instead of brooding over things for too long.
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 0:55
"You're talkin' Chinese, chere," Remy shook his head, "being careful an' Six Flags somehow don' fit together 'n my head."
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 0:58
She laughed. "Oh well, I was just giving you a warning." she said. "Too many loopings and I won’t be able to stand any more."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 1:01
"You'll have me to carry you 'round piggy-back," Remy grinned, taking a gulp of his soda.
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 1:03
"Probably." Shade agreed with a giggle. "Sounds more comfortable than being dragged anyways."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 1:09
"Den I'll have to get a car at some point," Remy remarked, "can't imagine you on a bike after a few rounds on a rollercoaster."
He was having great fun planning this theoretical trip like that, although a part of him was wondering what had gotten into him all of a sudden.
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 1:14
"A car would be better, yeah" Shade agreed feigning seriousness, before taking a sip of her soda.
A tiny voice in her head began nagging her where her reason had disappeared to, but she didn’t listen. She had had enough brooding and thinking for a while. She just deserved some fun.
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 1:19
"Let's plan a car, den," Remy suggested, a thrill of a possible car theft adding to his overall merryment. He didn't need a car, anyway, so he'd borrow something from someone. "Any particular model?"
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 1:21
She shook her head with a shrug. "I don’t really mind" she said. "It’s embarassing how little I know about cars, so I’d really have to think of a model. I stick to a colour instead. Silver."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 1:25
"Dieu," Remy smiled. That narrowed it down to a relatively small number of cars in the city, but even looking for one would be fun nonetheless. "Open roof?"
Posted by Shade on Apr 19, 2007, 1:27
She smiled propping her chin on her hand again. "I don’t care." she said. "Surprise me."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 19, 2007, 1:30
"You do realize dat I can surprize you wit' a tank or a train?" Remy pointed out. And the 12-year old kid inside of her wouldn't be that hard to surprise no matter what.
