"My name is Odin," ::Odin took the other man's hand for the offered handshake. He lowered his voice, aware of the other patrons of the bistro, none of whom were mutants.:: "What's your true name?"

Elias watched the other man, reading quite a lot from that simple reply. One, Odin was a mutant. Two, he was proud of the fact and three, despite that he did not want it to be widely known. No wonder with what had happened in Washington and with the growing hostilities against mutants. The "true name" phrase was kind of strange to him. He had never seen things like that. He had adopted a name, because he found it fitting and for no other reason. "Golem." he gave back, leaning back after he had shaken Odin´s hand. "How did you tell?" he asked. "powers?"

::Considering the other man's abilities, "Golem" was a fitting name for him. Odin particularly appreciated all references to mythology in chosen names; they were, after all, more than the humans, just as mythology was. They could perform the unexplainable. To the question, he nodded. He disliked giving away himself so readily; the last time had been when talking himself out of an altercation with Captain Jack, but now he had little choice.:: "Yes, my gift."

So just as he had guessed. Elias nodded, his expression friendly but mixed with true curiosity. "Can you tell what I can do?" he asked.

::Odin took another sip of his coffee before answering; it granted him the illusion of control. Illusion was hardly a substitute for reality, but it was far greater than neither. Setting down the cup, he replied,:: "Yes, I can. Was that job clipping for masonry?"

A good observer indeed, Elias thought. He had seen the newspaper and concluded the rest. Odin generally appeared like a calm and okay guy, still, despite the friendly attitude Golem displayed, he was a little careful. Being a mutant did not mean that he was someone to instantly trust. But being wary did no exclude a friendly chat either. "A building company." he said, nodding. "Nothing great, but money."

"If it pays the bills..." ::Odin said with a smirk of approval. It occurred to him that would be another set of concerns to work out if the magazine called him back about the marketing job. Rent, utilities, actual bills that didn't come in the form of a hotel room.::

Elias nodded. "Yeah." he agreed. "Worked for companies like that before. If something better or more interesting comes along my way at some point, fine." Right now he didn´t really care for minor things like that too much. He had a place to settle, a roof over his head and some money. One step after the other. Life usually provided enough to live. He had learned that during his years of travelling.

::That was hardly a philosophy Odin could argue with; he lived his life from job to job, although he'd always been self-employed. Until now, that was, should all go as planned.:: "Did you ever think of investing in your own company?"

"No." Elias replied at once, taking another gulp of his coffee. "I´ve never stayed at a place for long enough to think about something like that. I like to move around. An own company would be too binding."

::That was a consideration; research was more portable an industry than construction, which granted Odin the ease of self-employment and the freedom to do his other work. Still it never sat right with him how few mutant-owned industries there were.:: "With the right investments, you could get offices all over the country, but I see your point."

"I´d prefer to think on a global scale." Elias responded with a smile. He liked not being limited, travelling spontaneous implemented leaving a country to travel to another whenever he liked. "Do you own a business then?" He wondered whether Odin had brought up the topic from mere interest or relating to himself.

"I'm self-employed," ::Odin replied with a nod. Business terms, even in casual settings, were easiest to use; he was most comfortable with that wall between he and others. And although he owned everything he used, the company was hardly large enough to be considered a "company" by many others. Not that he was here to boast size.::

Elias gave an approving nod. "Sounds good." he said. "Independence is always a good thing. What area if you don´t mind me asking?"

::There was a brief hesitation as Odin waited for the compulsion; it didn't come. The marvels of linguistics, conditionals, and interpretation. The fact of the matter was that he did mind, and that provided him an out, one for which he was grateful. He'd give an answer, but could be vague, coy, like he used to be.:: "I focus on research."
