"You are a very brave dad." Tabitha said with a grin.

Morph put his hand next to his mouth, as if making sure Mark wouldn't overhear, "Reckless, maybe," he said in a low voice.

"Maybe." Tabitha said, teasingly. "Nah, you're not reckless. At least not with Mark."

"Well, we'll see," Kevin said. He finished his coffee. "In a few years." He stood up. "You, uh, could you take him now? I'll take a shower and be off to work in a moment."

"Sure." Tabitha stood up and went over and took Mark from him, holding him in the crook of her arm.

Kevin went to the shower for a few minutes. Thinking it over, he was glad they had sorted it out somehow. It would be a real problem to be left without Tabitha's help if she took offense and left him. Not that he would blame her, really.
He returned to the room, already morphed into a different set of clothes, to grab his jacket before leaving.

Sitting and holding Mark in her arms, Tabitha would make funny faces and gently tap his nose to earn a small giggle from the boy. Looking up and seeing Kevin she smiled and propped Mark up so he could see his dad off. "Say 'see ya later dad.' "

Kevin walked over to them and gave Mark a soft peck on the cheek. "See you both later," he said before leaving the apartment.

"Bye." Tabitha said and once Kevin left, she went along with her day with Mark.

*********************************** (( the day before the magazine was issued ))
Kevin returned much later that day; he had been working with the last-second arrangements for the magazine and was not only tired but really nervous, too. He was also kind of afraid of what Tabitha would do to him for not warning her about him being this late, but he had had no idea he would get stuck at work for so long.
He opened the door and stepped into the apartment.

Tabitha was sitting on the couch with her legs crossed and a cup of tea in her hands. She had gotten Mark to sleep long ago and checked on him every now and then. Hearing the door open she looked up, raising her hand and forming one of her bombs the size of a cue ball. She raised a brow as Kevin entered and she looked a bit annoyed. He hadn't even called to say he'd be late...

Kevin saw Tabitha's face and, not seeing Mark around, assumed the baby was already sleeping or at least lying quietly in his crib, which was far less probable. "Sorry..." he said to Tabitha, "really sorry. I hadn't realized how late it was," he took his shoes off and walked over to the couch.

Tabitha still had the ball of psionic energy in one hand and held her cup of tea in the other as she stood. "Didn't realize how late it was? Is there no clock where you work?"

Kevin looked at her hand, then back at her face. "There is, of course," he said. "But we were working like mad, finishing the stuff..."

"Okay, but you know, I have this other job..." At the word the ball of energy got slightly bigger. "And I love Mark and I love watching him for you, I also know what it's like to be really busy. But, even if I was busy and wasn't able to make it here to watch him-" she paused. "I would have called."
