"Depends," the artist said, "generally no washing with water for a week, no removing the scab that forms, no solarium or anything; in a week or two you should be generally fine, though complete healing takes a while."
Gambit winked at Shade. "No worries," he said. "I don' mind ya naked all de time while it heals."

Shade nodded. That was rather long. Showers would become a funny matter like that it seemed. She gave Gambit a glance of feigned shock. "I´ll talk you into having another tattoo on your butt then." she said, sticking out her tongue at him.

Shade gave a little shrug, careful not to move too much in order not to disturb the artist. Keep talking Shade, she thought by herself. Distraction is good. "Ah well, I´ll find other ways to see your butt then." she said. It was partly her wanting to concentrate on something else than the pain, partly herself having changed towards more self confidence over the last few months that made her talk like this in front of a stranger.

Shade smirked and meant to reply something ambiguous, but didn´t as she barely stiffled a groan. The artist was busy filling the outlines now and somehow that felt as if he was passing the needle over the same already hurting spots again and again. She followed what he was doing and had the impression he was working in a slow motion. Still, despite the pain, it looked really pretty.

As soon as the artist was finished, he leaned back a bit, studying his work, then applied a layer of petroleum jelly over the tattoo and put the temporary bandage off, repeating the instructions of the aftercare as he did.
Gambit carefully pulled his shirt back on, getting up while he waited for Shade to be all done.

Even with the blood traces and all, the tattoo looked really professional and well done and Shade was already looking forward to see what it would be like once the skin was completely healed and she could take off the bandage. She thanked the artist with a smile that clearly showed she was greatful he had packed away that nasty needle again and got up, carfully trying to button her jeans. The fabric was pressing against her hip which didn´t feel comfortable at all, so, after a moment of hesitation, she just put her sweater over it. It was cold outside anyways, the season for summer clothes was over, under her warmer jacket noone would notice her trousers were half open.
"Okay." she said. "I think like this it´ll work."

Gambit thanked the artist as well and paid for the tattoos. If the recommendations his friends back in New Orleans had given him corresponded to the truth, then the tattoos would heal quickly and without any problems.
He gave Shade a kiss on the cheek and wrapped his arm around her waist as they walked out of the parlor.
