"Dunno 'bout de runaway part, but she says she got no place of her own, an' I don' really care dat much if it's a lie or a truth," Gambit said. "Anyways, soon as she learns enough t' support herself, she's out on her own."

It was a very typical Gambit answer and Shade smiled a little at that. She was feeling no jealousy, knowing quite a few girls from her college or high school days who would have flipped at the thought of their boyfriend letting some girl stay at his apartment; but there was no need at all to feel jealous or awkward about it. No place to go, she thought. So maybe Gambit had picked her up somewhere. Whoever she was, she should feel greatful.
She shifted a little in the embrace. "Got to get used to wearing something most of the time then." she said jokingly. It was of course exaggerated but when she stayed at Gambit´s place it happened that they sometimes were around the flat for hours naked or with just a towel. Note to self, Shadey: don´t scare the apprentice.

"Dat from someone who can simply go unseen?" Gambit inquired.

"Right." Shade admitted raising a brow. "But it´s usually more fun being naked when you can see me."

"C'est vrai," Gambit agreed, "no worries. De place is big. We can all roam 'round our personal spaces without runnin' into each other."

Shade nodded. "That´s okay." she said and meant it. "I´m living at a school, people around don´t bother me." And if the alternative was letting the girl live on the streets, heck no, of course it was better if she used one of the rooms in Gambit´s apartment.

"Bon," Gambit nodded. He was mildly surprised at Shade's calm reaction towards the fact that there was a girl living at his apartment, which meant she trusted him around women more now and/or was used to the fact that there could be other women in his vicinity. He didn't disillusion her; love and faithfulness didn't necessarily coincide in his mind, even though he had no plans on bedding Victoria at the moment (plans could always change), still, the fact that Shade wasn't obviously or immediately bothered by the other girl's presence, was comforting.

Shade thought about what he had told her for a brief moment. Maybe it was also the fact that they had changed the topic to something different and away from all the dangerous stuff that made her stay that relaxed about that matter, but when she thought further, she did not find problems with it either. She knew Gambit could be rather flirty, but she also knew it was a general attitude not meant to hurt her and certainly not automatically connected to emotions. He might flirt with many, but she knew she was special and that was enough for her not to feel jealous.
She straightened up a little, eyeing the chocolate cake once more, then decided that if Gambit was right with his guess about sugar, eating it could help to chase away the rest of her exhaution. She grabbed for the fork and started to eat.

Gambit was looking at some point on the table, half-hugging Shade. She would be safer in his apartment where he knew she would stay and not leave, unlike she would have done while at the mansion. A small problem was that he would be away frequently, doing stuff with Victoria, and stuff that he would not always be able to let Shade join in, just because it was too specific and not some fun play. However, it was still better, knowing exactly where Shade stayed.

Shade spent some moments just eating, concentrating on the dizzyness retreating a little along with her nervousness. From the corners of her eyes she could tell Gambit was in thought, looking at something she could not make out, most likely at nothing. She guessed it had to do with the whole situation, with what had just happened or rather, almost happened, to her. She knew the reason why he had suggested to move in with him was his worry. He would feel better if he knew her around, she could completely understand that because it was just what she thought about him.
After a while, she put down the fork again and turned her head, brushing her thumb against his chin, studying him for a moment. Staying with him meant to do so for security reasons. It meant she would have to cancel her classes for the next few weeks most likely and tell Xavier about it. That might get a little awkward but she would do it. This was not about cowardice and hiding on her part, it was about calming Gambit and knowing where he was more than she did now. "What you thinking?" she asked in a llow voice, figuring there was something going through his mind, maybe nothing too important but she could tell from his face that he was pondering.

"Stuff," Gambit replied vaguely, not even trying to put his hurried thoughts into some kind of logical structure for a response. Not to leave her in silence again, he offered another subject, "I might leave dis week. For a day or two."

Shade immidiately wondered whether what he said was related although he was putting a pause between his utterances to let it look like it was a change of topic. She didn´t dig any further but nodded. "Top secret stuff?" she asked, knowing he would get her words as a chance to either tell her where he was going or not to do so.

"In a way," Gambit said, not wishing to let her in on the fact that it was secret from her more than from anybody else. "Ain't dat important," he added, "I'll jus' be gone for a while, dat all."

Shade briefly wondered whether it was really the way he claimed it to be; not that important. If the silence before she had asked what he was thinking had been related to what he was talking about now, it might well be that he was just keeping something from her. But as long as it did not concern her directly and she did not think that he was trying to hurt her there, it was his business. If he wanted to talk about it, he could. It might be thieving business as well. Continuing to ask whether something was bothering him if it was just that would be weird.
"All right." she said, kissing his cheek. "Long as you take care which I know you can far better than I can I´ll not... I´ll try not to worry." She leant her head against his chest, absently letting her fingers run along his.
