Shade nodded slowly. Of course he was right there. Things like that never passed without a whole lot of wounds, and scars. History was telling too clear a story there. "I know." she murmured. "And it scares me." Her last words had been barely above whisper. Her fear was not just about herself. Of course, part of her was fearing for her own life, but that part was insignificant compared with a far larger part being scared for others. In particular scared for Gambit.

"It's better dat way," Gambit said, running his fingers through the hair on the back of her head. "No fear means no caution."

Again he was right of course and again Shade nodded against his chest. It meant that he was scared too, just not showing it. Another thing that calmed her. However, there was something that concerned her right now. She couldn´t get her mind off the fact that her powers had been... well, how to call it? Malfunctioning?
"I think I´ll see the Professor somewhen these days." she said, moving her head a little. "Maybe it was just a panic thing, but my powers refused to kick in when I took the subway here although they´re working again now." She did not mean to increase his worries, but she thought it would just be fair to tell him. Gambit usually wanted to have a full picture of things and keeping silent about this detail would not give him one.

"Okay," Gambit said. He could do nothing about helping her with the issue with her powers, his guesses would remain guesses, and asking Xavier about it would, of course, be much wiser. However, that made him think of another aspect of the situation. "Chere, ya got any classes?" he asked, thinking.

Shade shook her head. "Not today." she said. "Just my two classes as last semester so I don´t have to teach every day." She had taken her day off as an oportunity to drive into the the city, mainly because she had wanted to go to the photoshop which she had done, but she did not mention that, did not even hint at it. If she told Gambit she had gone to the city to get something for him, he might feel guilty and she did not want that.

"I been thinkin'..." Gambit said, studying the chocolate cake absently, "mebbe ya should move in wit' me. 'Least until it becomes less dangerous."

Shade raised her head a little to look at him. It would not be visible for other people in the café, but she knew him well enough to clearly tell he was concerned. Protective. And telling the truth, although she knew Gambit was unlikely to lock himself in somewhere, she knew she herself would be a lot calmer now that things were getting tough if she knew where he was. Or at least knew so most of the time.
She had stayed for a couple of days at his place before and it had worked well. Yes, she thought, it sounded like a good option. The mansion was protected , she would be more worried about him if she stayed at the mansion. She nodded seriously, then smiled a little. "You know how terribly long I tend to block the bath." she said, trying a somewhat joking tone.

"Yeah," Gambit nodded. "Terrible. But I can prob'ly curb my patience for a few weeks." He didn't think the danger would last longer than that, nor was he ready to share his territory for someone, even with Shade, for a longer time, but he could afford a few weeks.

Her smile widened a little. Shade knew he was talking about a temporary move in, still that brightened her mood. And it would ease her worry. "Good." she said and raised her head a little more to give him a small kiss on the corner of his mouth. Not out of physical need, but as a sign of affection and relief that she knew both of them safe, at least for the moment.

Gambit nodded. "By de way, I got an apprentice who's gonna be livin' at my place for a while, so don' get freaked out 'f ya meet 'er strollin' 'round," he added.

Shade gave him a look, saying nothing for three or four seconds. Not because what he told her was bothering her, but for another reason. Then for the first time ever since she had entered the café she really smiled. "An apprentice?" she asked, grinning a little at the thought. Apprentice could just mean one thing. Whoever she was, he was teaching her about thieving. "You teaching her?"

Her grin widened a little. "I know." Shade said. "I just thought something along the lines of me thieving, you teaching... is that my good influence?" she teased.

"Aw, damn." Shade said, feigning a pout. She wondered how Gambit would teach apprentice and their own Danger Room sessions were coming to her mind. He would not cut her a slack that much for sure. Whoever she was, she was up to a hard training most likely. "So you took her in?" she asked, settling her head against Gambit´s chest again. It could mean the girl had no place to stay which again probably meant she was a mutant. "Is she a runaway?"
