"Always, chere," Gambit replied before he hung up. Putting his helmet on, he blasted off on his bike into the street, maneuvering through traffic at a high speed. He didn't worry about any Sentinels - he was relatively sure he could handle one, or at least shake it off rather easily.

Shade hung up the phone receiver, noticing that her hands were still trembling slightly. Whether from weakness or from fear she could not tell, maybe it was both. She took a few calming breaths and it worked to some extent. However, she could not shake off the wearyness. Why was she so tired? Was it because of the gas? She felt drained. Like when she had extended her powers too much. But this couldn´t be. She had only used them on herself and that never effected her.
After a few more seconds, she turned around and left the phone box, not without having another few glances up and down the street. Nothing in sight, everything seemed perfectly normal. She crossed the street and entered the café, heading to the rest rooms before she even started looking for a place. After splashing some water into her face and using some paper towel to wipe a scratch on her lower right arm, she returned to the café and found a place in some corner where she was hidden from most views. A waitress dropped by, gave her a slightly irritated look and Shade ordered a Coke. She gulped down half of it as soon as the other woman brought it. Then she waited.

Surprisingly not causing any accidents on his hasty way to where Shade told him she was, Gambit arrived to the café, parked the bike and, entering the building, looked around. Soon he noticed Shade and walked over, sitting down next to her. She had a half-empty glass of Coke, and that brought him some minor relief - it means she was feeling better; had she ordered water or coffee, then he would have been concerned.
He immediately wrapped his arm around her, pulling her towards him into an embrace.

Shade didn´t speak for a moment. She felt such immense relief to see him, not just because that meant he had arrived here unhindered, but also because Gambit was there now and she felt far better protected now. She had calmed down a little, but the trembling was back as if she had held it back during the last few minutes. She slung her arms around him pressing herself against him in a new attempt to shake off her fears.

Gambit gave her a few moments to gain more calmness and start feeling more secure in his embrace, then pulled back a little, raising his hand to touch her cheek and study her face. He could show he was concerned when he wasn't afraid to show it. "Are you hurt?" he asked, noticing some minor scratches on her face.

Shade shook her head. Her side was hurting a little, but she was sure there were no injuries. She had been lucky it seemed. "Just a bruise on my arm I think." she said, because she wasn´t sure if there wasn´t more. But she guessed there wasn´t. Pain was not bothering her right now anyways, but there was worry in his eyes so she thought it best to tell him, even if it was just something minor. "And there was some sort of gas, I... think I got some of that." No, Shade not think, know.

"How are ya feelin' right now?" Gambit asked, trying to guess what state she was in - he still remembered how she had avoided answering that question back when he had still been lying paralyzed in the hospital. "Dizzy or anythin' like dat?"

Shade nodded. Her head was feeling a little dizzy, but that was the main thing. "And scared. And, I don´t, I´m feeling terribly tired. Drained. As if I used my powers too much." It didn´t make sense to her, that neve happened, she had perfect control about herself, but she knew Gambit always wanted details so she was not going to deny him the things that she might think unimportant.

He couldn't do anything about her being scared - just being around her, if that helped. There was no way he could protect her from further encounters with Sentinels, if those were to happen, and now he was fairly sure they would happen - he could only suggest locking her up in a basement somewhere where the Sentinels would never find her, but that was nonsense, of course. The other option would be, of course, to keep her next to him day and night.
"Can't see a reason for dis," he said, frowning. "Didja use yer powers lots?"

Shade wiped a hand across her face nervously. Gambit´s presence was calming to some extent and that was a good thing allowing her to think a little clearer. "I did." she said. "I switched them on and off when I ran because I crossed streets because the thing didn´t attack cars. But that´s odd. I never affected me. Then I vanished again, ran towards that subway station.." she tried to recall things. It had happened so quickly. "I got the gas and felt terribly drained all of a sudden. And then I tumbled down the stairs. I wasn´t quick I think... it might have seized me, but I think it just lost track of me or something." It sounded like utter nonsense. A sentinel could sense her. Her invisibility did not defend her there.

Gambit didn't know what that location looked like, nor could he guess any details about precise speed and distance between Shade and the Sentinel from what she was telling him. In short, he was completely clueless, and he would've straightened the matter out by asking questions to narrow it down to what had happened exactly, but he didn't want to make her go through it once again so soon. The police would do that to people immediately after the incidents, while the memory about details was still fresh, but he didn't want to act like this. Investigation wasn't among his interests when Shade was sitting there all shaken up and distressed.
"Might've been de effect of gas," he supposed, referring to how drained she was feeling, even if just to offer some passable solution.

Shade nodded faintly, starting to tug on the sleeves of her pullover. It was a habit, she did that when she was nervous. "Maybe." she said. She wasn´t sure if she believed what she was saying. It sounded like a possibility, but something was at odds. Not just the exhaution she felt, but also the fact that her powers had refused to kick in after the incident as if they had needed a moment to restore from being unusually overtaxed. "cause I think it affected my powers, too." She didn´t feel too much enthusiasm to go through all this in detail, but the way she was talking now was talking about her powers, trying to find a reason for her current state. It blended out the images of a flying net, of an electricity bolt that missed her by inches, in short: the mental image of her being treated like a hunted animal.
From impulse she grabbed for her glass of coke again, drowing another few hasty gulps. Her hand was still shaking slightly.

Gambit watched her drink, reminded of a conversation they had a few months ago, about her powers being related to the sugar she ate. "Shade," he asked, trying to test his guess, "what wouldja rather eat right now? First things dat come t' mind?"

The question seemed irrelevant to her for the moment and Shade thought it to be an attempt to calm her down, to distract her. She didn´t mind. His presence was soothing and she highly appreciated that. She gave a shrug. "Something sweet." she replied instantly, not thinking much. You´re odd, Shade, she told herself. You narrowly escape that thing and first thing to eat you think about is some candy? "Dunno, chocolate cake or something."
