Her vision cleared a little and Shade realised that the person with the hand on her shoulder was a woman. A woman who did not look like a threat. She shook her head hastily, her heartbeat calming a little, but not much. What if the sentinel was still around? She could not leave the tube station the way she had come. "No." she just said, trying to sound calm. She tossed a glance around and saw one or two more persons stand nearby giving her worried looks, others who were passing by tossing her glances. She had to get away. "I´m fine..." she said staggering to her feet. It made her head go dizzy but she fought her weakness down even though it made her feel somewhat sick. The effect of the gas, but that she did not know. Not caring how the bystanders might react she tossed another look around and, seeing that there was a tube approaching just now mingled with the crowds, getting into the train as soon as it came to a halt.
She walked through the entire train until she found an empty corner between two compartments where noone noticed her. She tried to vanish. She had to get away from here before she could feel safe again. But her powers did not kick in, did not work. It made her panic once more and she just managed to keep herself in check. Calm, Shadey, there has to be a reason, she told herself. Calm down. But it didn´t work and she leant against the wall, shivering, confused and scared.
She had no idea what tube this was and where she was going. It didn´t matter for now, she told herself as her heart beat returned to something more normal slowly. Her fear and nervousness stayed. Had that been the reason why Gambit had sounded worried? Gambit. If it had she had to call him. As soon as possible. He would worry. Her thoughts were strange and without much context, she was feeling so very tired. Could it be that gas? She guessed so, thinking there could be no other reason, still not realising why she had been able to escape the sentinel.
After four or five stops she left the tube and mingled with the crowd. She was somewhere in mid Manhattan now, she was not entirely sure where. She tried to vanish again, randomly on her way to the exit, not heeding possible watchers. Again it didn´t work. It only worked when she had exited again, taking a careful look around before stepping back into the sunlight. SHade felt immense relief when her powers kicked in, cloaking her in invisibility.
She just followed her feet and looked for a phone box. Her cell phone was out of use and even if it hadn´t been... scared and paranoid as she was feeling right now she would have removed the batteries and used a public phone anyways. She found one at some street corner and sneaked in, appearing again when she picked up the receiver. It took her two attempts until her fingers were able to dial Gambit´s cell phone number. Then she waited, hoping instantly hat he would answer.
