"Oh, he was clothed," Bel said, her face clearly expressing her deep regret regarding that fact, "but den he couldn't go out on de street lookin' all red, had t' wait until nightfall an' creep along some backstreets."

Shade grinned, obviously amused by the mental image of that. "Why´d you do it?" she asked, taking a sip of her new cocktail.

"We were goofin' off," Bella grinned, "chasin' each other in a factory buildin'. I'd always ask him to break into various places, just for fun, he was good at it... Well, still is, I s'pose," she snorted, "well, anyway, he was too fast, caught up wit' me easily, an' I thought I'd get some payback for dat, so I tricked him - an' bam-splash!"

"Would have loved to see that." Shade said, obviously enjoying herself. The thought how weird and absurd this situation actually was and that she had drunk far more than she usually did tonight didn´t bother her any more. Her head was feeling light and a bit dizzy but that did nothing to dampen her mood. "I have him a nice blow against the chin once." she said, using her own fist to demonstrate. "Like this, bam." It had been back they had been boxing and she had ended up with more bruises than him, but who cared.

"Did ya?" Bella looked incredulous. "Why, ya got into a fight or somethin'?"

Shade leant back, stretching her legs. "Yeah. Kind of. I mean. Not really. We´d be to a bar and people started insulting Gambit and started to say things to me too and it kind of ended in a brawl and...we were wound up so we went boxing."

Bella raised her brows. "Bein' in a brawl didn't vent ya? I mean, Gambit didn't put up a decent fight? What was he, on drugs or somethin'?" This kind of contradicted her image of Gambit back in his New Orleans days when he never shied away of some showing off with his martial skills in public.

"Oh he did put up a very decent fight." Shade said. "I just got half of it cause he took some of the guys outside and the bravest remained behind trying to be mean with me, so I arrived a bit late." The memory of that was very clear. Shade hardly ever was in an aggressive mood but, paradox as it sounded because Gambit was the last person in the world probably who needed her protection, the insults had gotten her angry and protective. She smirked, remembering the guy´s surprised howl when he had complained about the punch on the nose she had given him.
"So, it vented him, probably, but not me."

"Oh," Bella said, relaxing. "Den he ain't much changed. Good to know." She drank from her glass, followed by a belated thought that probably it was high time to stop already before she'd embarrass herself in front of everyone, including LeBeau.

Shade was feeling very relaxed by now, somewhat tipsy yes, but not in a way that she thought i would have much of an effect on her which was actually not true. Sober Shade would probably not have shared those stories with his wife. Sober Shade would not poke fun of Gambit in public.
"Well, hard for me to judge." she said.

Bel scrunched up her nose. "Well, he's de kind of guy dat never gonna change, I guess," she said, then leaned forward, barely suppressing a giggle, and said in a conspiratorial tone, "I got a picture of him when he was twelve, wanna see?"

Shade instantly moved closer, giving something like an almost girlish squeal. "What kind of a question is that, of course I want to see." she grinned.

"Now, hold on-" Bella shifted a bit, sticking her hand inside her costume and unzipping a concealed pocket where she held her wallet. That was a place no thief could ever get into. She produced her wallet and, opening it, showed an old picture with worn edges, accompanying it by drunk giggling. aveleen.com/livejournal/pictures/xmen/gr91.jpg

Shade curiously leant across the table to have a look, almost knocking over her cocktail as she did so, but catching the class in the last second before it could topple. She didn´t know what she had expected, probably some I´m-too-cool-for-the-world kid striking a devil-may-care-pose, but probably not that: "He had braces?" she giggled. "He´s so gonna get it for that." She could picture Gambit´s reaction to that: probably some face devoid of any expression and a ´Tell me when ya done makin fun of Gambit.´

Bella's giggles grew louder. She decided that it was totally worth it, making fun of LeBeau in the company of his girlfriend, a nice revenge for all of Bella Donna's troubles - well, not all of them, but at least some. "I know, right?" she nodded, nearly dropping her head onto the table, but then straightened up again. "I told him, 'ha-ha, gotcha, ya can't steal good teeth, t'ief,' an' den it kinda stuck, I called him Tif-Tif for a while."
