Shade looked at her, trying to make sense of what Bel told her. It didn´t sound easy. Years, as it seemed. There was suddenly a kind of sadness about the other woman, possibly the cocktails she had had so far had lowered her defenses considerably. She tried to put herself in Bel´s place - and innerly shied away from it. Years of back and forth possibly. Of sporadic visits. Uncertainties and politics determining parts of it. If Bel loved him the way Shade loved him, this had to be almost unbearable.
"Then let´s not think about the complicated." she suggested after a moment. "because it always is with him, isn´t it?" A look to the side showed that a group of three people was just leaving one of the cubicles at the other end of the bar, as in, a place where they could probably have a conversation that didn´t require raised voices as much. And that also had less ears listening in. "There´s some seats over there." she said. "the staff likes to gossip as you saw, shall we go sit over there instead?"

"Oh, yes," Bel readily accepted the offer, getting up from her place immediately. She placed a hundred dollar bill on the counter, drawing the bartender's attention to her by clicking her fingers. " 'ey, we're movin' to another place," she told him, "can ya keep 'em comin'?" she asked, meaning the drinks, so that she wouldn't have to wait for waiters to come over or herself shuttle back and forth between her seat and the bar. At his affirmative nod, she took her glass and walked to where Shade had suggested.

Shade noticed that her footing was not as steady as it usually was. She wasn´t drunk, but on a good way to getting tipsy. Not that she cared much, right now that thought was almost amusing.
She slumped down on the seat in the cubicle, placing her half finished second cocktail in front of her and waiting for Bel to join her. "What kinda powers do you have?" she asked, noticing how her tongue made her voice slur at one point. "Just out of curiosity." She had to be a mutant, otherwise she wouldn´t have made it into the Hellfire

Bella relaxed against the back of the seat in the cubicle. She shrugged. "Some energy shooting stuff. I haven't bothered 'bout technicalities. It works, so, for me it's enough. What 'bout yours?"

The answer was somewhat strange, but that only occured to Shade for a brief moment. "Invisibility." she said. "Me and if I want, others. Or objects. Some people are drop dead envious of that." she added with a grin before drinking from her cocktail again.

"Oh, I'm sho," Bella Donna grinned, quite certain that an ability like that could be extremely valuable for a Thief. In fact, for an Assassin, as well. "I'd love t' have invisibility," she added, following that thought.

"It can come in quite handy in many places even when one´s not a thief or something." Shade said. "if one´s creative enough about it." That was actually quite a good cocktail, she thought. Why didn´t she usually drink more of that stuff when she was around?

"Oh, I bet," Bella kept grinning. "I also bet perv LeBeau makes ya use your powers in bed? Experimentin' wit' dat?"

"Who said it´s just him making use of that in bed?" Shade giggled. "but well, that´s another reason why it´s also practical. You know...hiding and stuff."

"It goes without sayin', of course," Bella shrugged again. After she'd touched upon the subject, she now felt a wave of jealousy and curiosity rise in her. She studied Shade for a moment. Who was this girl? What was she like? How had she managed to woo LeBeau, that fickle, unreliable, secretive man?
"How long 'ave ya been together?" she asked.

Shade leant back. It was an easy question but she doublt thought, just to make sure. "Almost three years." she said, noticing as she said this that this was the longest relationship she had ever had. And with what kind of a guy... There had been her high school crush, but that had not held that long. He had been uncomfortable with her in a way when he had found out about her mutation (which had shown when she had been 13, but she had not pranced around telling the world), the second had been a boyfriend at college she had been with for about two years. It was astounding really, she thought. Thinking about that this had started off with something that had looked very much like a one-night stand.

"Quoi?" Bella couldn't hold back an astonished exclamation. "Wow. Steady, or, like, on-again-off-again thing?" she could not believe it at once. To think that Gambit held on with someone for such a long extent of time... well, his "Bella Donna" period had still been much longer, which she marked inwardly with satisfaction.

There was something, some possibly evil, aloof part of Shade that inwardly smirked at the other woman´s obvious disbelief. You didn´t expect that, did you, huh? Thought I was one of his episodes, didn´t you? she thought with some satisfaction. "Steady." she replied. "I mean... there are phases when he´s not always around, when he´s in New Orleans or dealing with thief stuff, but we´ve never broken up if that´s what you mean."

"Yeah, I was kinda hopin'," Bella admitted, "dat he been giving someone else some hard time, too." She ran her finger along the rim of the glass. Her finger was shaking slightly, she noticed. Could be the alcohol, could be emotions.

Shade noticed the tremble of her fingers and sighed inwardly. Despite the effect of the alcohol she could clearly feel by now, she couldn´t help but... feel sorry. A hard time? she thought. Not really. The first months had not always been easy. The time between when she had fallen in love with him and when he had started to return her feelings. Knowing that it was not mutual love the way she felt it had been hard at times and she wondered whether she would have stuck around that long, had it continued like that. Probably not.
Their hard times had been of a different nature. The kidnapping, the accident, the sentinels, running from the apartment at night under gunfire. His elusiveness and being closed against her, but that too, was more the first months of their relationship. Not now, these days.
"I´m sorry." she said finally, just because it felt the right thing to say at the moment.
