Gambit frowned. "Dis is absurd," he said, then chuckled. "It could never happen in real life, trust me."

Shade made a face and looked up to the ceiling. "Seriously I feel like I have one heck of a hangover, whereever does that come from?" she stretched, trying to do so carefully in order not to make the headache worse.

"Please." Shade said, leaning across the bed to give him a brief kiss before deciding it would be better to rest her head again. "but why did I get drunk?" This didn´t make much sense she decided.

Gambit sat up, trying quickly to invent something. "Well, from what I understood," he said, getting up, "Joey talked ya into tryin' a cocktail, after which ya decided that yer life was miserable 'cause I wasn't gonna marry ya, so den ya got really drunk."

Shade gave him an overly confused look. "Huh?" she made. "I got a whole different memory on that, Joey´s sure been telling you crap." She tried to sit up. Which resulted in the pain forming something that felt like nasty little hammers inside her head. She tried to ignore it. She thought. Hard. Could that be true? She shook her head, extremely confused. "I can´t believe I said that..." she muttered, not sure whether it was an expression of disbelief or of apology. "I mean... I don´t think my life is miserable." The urge to just lay down again was overwhelming.

"Don' worry 'bout it," Gambit said, walking off to the kitchen. He returned with a glass of soluble aspirin, sitting down on the bed next to Shade and handing the glass to her.

Shade straightened up a bit, leaning against the bedpost, the bedsheet covering her partly. She pulled her legs a little closer and took the glass, drowning half of it in one go. "Thank you." she said making a face , but keeping the glass in her hand. "How embarrassing is that, seriously?"

Gambit nodded with a sad look, showing that it really was embarrassing and that he fully sympathized. "I'd probably suggest next time ya wanna get drunk, do it wit' someone who can keep an eye on ya. 'Cause Joey sho couldn't."

The look he gave her was heard to bear and Shade had to look away for a moment feeling not only embarrassed but also guilty. She wondered who had seen that and what else she didn´t remember or rather, apparently remembered wrong. People at the Hellfire knew she was Gambit´s girlfriend, there sure would be talking about that. "I´m sorry." she groaned, following an impulse and holding the glass of water to her forehead, glancing at him from the corner of her eyes.
Damnit, Shade, what happened? How could you get so drunk and over something like that? That didn´t make any sense at all, let alone that she had never really considered Gambit marrying her. And of course with not thinking about it naturally came no feeling bad about it. "Are you mad at me now?" she asked, looking uncertain, the glass still against her head.

"Not anymore," Gambit chuckled. She looked so miserable, for a second he even felt bad about lying to her. But then it was for the best.

Shade closed her eyes with a sigh. "Tell me I didn´t do anything more embarrassing than that, will ya." she said.

"I dunno, I wasn't there," Gambit shrugged. "Just what Joey told me, in short. Why is it so important? You went on a real bender, wasn't yaself pretty much."

"Cause the Hellfire´s your place." Shade said, using the glass absent mindedly to cool her lip, then held it apart a little and scowled, touching it. Damn, how had that happened. Her memory told her it had been a punch Gambit´s wife had given her. "and I don´t like making you look bad." She gave him another glance. "I never would in a sober mind, I hope you know."

"Of course I do," Gambit assured her. "In my place, I can deal wit' rumors an' such. But if it really bothers ya, stay away for a few months, might save your reputation," he winked. Ah, it really was cruel, but from his point of view, it was better than have her remember the fine points of the conversation she'd had with Bella Donna.
