"We are investigating into several directions." Serena said, figuring that the details of these investigations were none of his business. "we have lists of our own. Besides all that, there are the victims after all. So we´re checking on people with possibly motifs. Friends, spouses, relatives of victims we know about... It´s a long list really. So getting the one that matters might help a lot, Remy."

"I know," Gambit nodded. "As soon as I get it, one copy is yours, guaranteed. Jus' help me out here, chere - anythin' on de suspect? I need to know what I'm dealin' with, otherwise I'm lost an' no list for us to grab," he pursed his lips in a final, convincing expression to show that his hands were really tied unless Serena helped.

Serena leant back, breaking the eye contact for a moment and letting her gaze drift across the place as if to make sure that no one was listening in on him, before turning back with a slight chuckle. "You´re impossible Remy." she said. "you´re gonna get me into trouble one day." Not that she was reluctant to cooperate with him. So far, these cooperations had always paid of well and she was sure that this wouldn´t be any different. Still, the look he gave her made her lose her cool a bit, because it was a look of the kind that it didn´t take much any more and he´d wrapped her around his finger. And she couldn´t let that happen.
She leant closer again. "Nothing more than what was on the news." she said. "A woman in her mid to late 20s, long dark hair, slender build. It´s suspected she was a mutant because she made it out there somehow before the body was discovered which was moments after the murder and the man we caught confirmed that suspition. No idea about her powers, but we´re checking on mutant only places right now to see if she sounds familiar to anyone. That and our lists involving hate crimes beyond state borders."

Gambit winked at her. "You're precious," he said. "What would I do without ya now?" He finished his coffee. "I'll see if dis woman comes up in my search. Shame, I was hopin' she'd be a solid lead."

"She´s the only lead we have right now." Serena said, suppressing a smile at his charming words. "Too bad though that the description might fit hundreds. But we´re doing our best to narrow that down."
She paused for a bit, then went on. "See that you get that list, Remy." she then said. "it´s not just gonna help us clear up that murder. I don´t really care much about who killed that guy, but it´s the law and it´s my job so I´m tracking her down. But it´ll also help us track down the guys who probably deserve the one or other bullet in their head."

"If dey do what I think dey do," Gambit said, "dey deserve it. Though it's not my business to meddle wit' that, but-" he gave a wry smirk. "Ya know where I stand." With the anti-mutant organization in view, it was little doubt where his loyalties would go should he pick a side. "When I get de job done, de list is yours."

Serena gave a small smile, mirroring his. She had talked to this Steven before, several times. He seemed to be one of those stuck up, ignorant haters that were becoming more and more common these days, a fanatic, no doubt. To her, this case had become something larger, and not just to her. This was two things: tracking down murder and after that, tracking down a bunch.
She nodded, showing she had understood. "I count on you Remy." she said, finishing her coffee.

Gambit got up, leaving money for the coffee on the table. "I owe ya one," he told Serena, and was sincere about it, "I'll keep in touch, chere. Good luck," he brushed his hand against her shoulder as a small friendly gesture as he passed her by on his way out.

Serena stayed for about another minute or two, turning the empty coffee cup in her hand, pretending that there was some left in it. She wouldn´t leave the same moment he would. She knew that her colleagues or her boss wouldn´t like seeing her meeting with someone like him, just as she knew perfectly well that disclosing information of the kind she had just given to an outsider was something she was not supposed to do. But that didn´t worry her. Remy, apart from being a thief, was someone she would consider a trusted ally who always kept his end of the bargain and if what she had told him resulted in him producing the list she had been looking for, it had well been worth the trade.
Leaving some money next to his, she finally got up and left.
