Sean grimaced as he walked. The dried muddy water on his jeans had formed a crusty hard patch that chafed a bit against his leg. A reminder in every stride he took that he was not clean, needed to get him and wash his clothes, put fresh ones on. But even through the growing discomfort, he kept on the task at hand. He had to see if this young man had been merely curious and friendly, or there was a hidden agenda behind striking up a conversation with him.
As he followed behind, he noticed a commotion happening up ahead, right around the man he was keeping his eyes on. Sean slowed his pace, not wanting to overtake them, but also not wanting to appear too obvious. Two other men had apparently wanted to start an 'incident' with the young man from the bar, and he was slowly closing in on them, no matter how much he tried not to move forward. He realized he needed to make a decision: interfere or ignore.
Though he hated needless confrontations, especially in public like this (despite the darkness, the streets of New York were still filled with people out on the town), Sean knew he couldn't just walk by, never knowing if his cover had been blown. He had to interfere. But how? Obviously his powers were out of the question; the young man was too close to the two bullies that if he tried a sonic attack, all would be affected, no matter how much he aimed. So it was down to good old-fashioned human interference then.
He was only a few yards from the trio when the idea came to him. Though not a poker player and an ability to flush out any lies, Sean had become a fair bluffer over the years. Sean plastered on a friendly smile and walked right up to them. "Hey, do you guys have the time?" he pointed towards his watch, completely functional, but didn't let the bullies get a good look. "My watch seems to have stopped. I'm late for this meeting and..." he shrugged, playing his best to appear the tourist/businessman.
