::Tobias's main problem was his determination; he didn't like to give up unless his hand was forced. With the weekend upon him, he had nothing else to do but watch television, do homework, talk to his roommate, and train with his powers. Since television was reruns, homework was the last thing he wished to do, and Jarod was busy, he was outside training.
There had been a light snow earlier which he had worked with, but the clouds had parted and now he was left to use the wind. It had all been well and good until he got the idea in his head to try to fly again.
Twenty minutes and several falls later, he was finally beginning to bruise, although that had yet to deter him. Yet again, he was climbing the tree, preparing for another attempt.::

Lorna didn't like the cold, and never had, even given where she grew up. But it was tiring to be cooped up in the mansion all the time, and so she'd forced herself to go outside, wrapped up in a coat and boots. The grounds were also generally absent of metal, and that being the case, the magnetic fields that she could see were more limited, which rested her eyes if nothing else.
She'd taken a short tour about the grounds, and was on her second lap when she noticed someone clambering up a tree. She stopped to look, staring upwards at the tree trunk and the person clinging to it.

::Tobias reached a sturdy branch, the same one he had been using for the past twenty minutes. The wind around him was loud in his ears, and he strengthened it. Then with a mental, "catch me this time," he stepped off the branch, calling on the wind to keep him from falling.::

Lorna stood beneath him and watched, and let out a little "eep!" when he stepped off the tree.

::The wind caught Tobias, and he was elated; his happiness was short lived, as the wind soon gave way, and he went tumbling unceremonously to the ground, his hands shot out to brace his fall.::

As much as she wanted to, there was nothing Lorna could do to break his fall, even as she lifted her hands to try. He wasn't wearing significant metal to hold him by, and she couldn't defy gravity.

::Since neither of them could break his fall, Tobias hit the snow-covered ground in a pile, next to the brown spots he had caused from previous falls. He was bruising a bit, although fortunately his increased durability protected him from potential broken bones or sprained wrists. In the midst of pushing himself to his feet and brushing himself off, he noticed a green-haired girl watching him, and he felt a wave of embarrassment.:: "You...saw that, didn't you?"

Lorna still had her hands half raised, and she winced when he fell, even more so when he realized she was watching. "Um...yeah. It looked like it hurt."

"A little," ::Tobias told her, brushing the snow off his coat. If he kept it up, his hands would be covered in yellow and blue bruises.:: "I probably shouldn't keep going."

"Maybe not," she agreed, laughing just a little despite herself. "You might break something."

::Tobias smiled, although it was a shy smile of self-deprecation. He hadn't broken a bone in so very long, due entirely to his mutation, since he didn't do anything to prevent injuries.:: "That'd take a lot."

"Like a fall from a tree?" she pointed out.

::Tobias shook his head, denying that point.:: "Much more than that."

Well, they were in a mutant school, she supposed. "Your powers?"

"Thankfully," ::Tobias was truly grateful for that aspect of his powers, for all of them. His smile became less self-deprecating and more generally pleasant.:: "I'm Tobias."
