::Karl's first instinct was to laugh, and it was a low, mirthless sound. He was half this man's age, possessed powers of his own designed to stop this, and had spent his childhood in the wilderness watching his father fend off creatures that could eat them both for breakfast. Not to mention that he, too, had years of experience with control, and he would always be reminded of that; his wedding ring served that purpose as well.:: "Don't be concerned about that; you can't."

Erik glared at him, and took a step back. The metal on the other man's body began to jerk him backward. "This conversation is over. Goodbye."

::Karl felt himself begin to be pushed back by an individual force. Before he was out of contact range, he reached out, brushed the other man's hand with his fingertips and drained a bit of his life force. Not enough to harm him, as he didn't need an assault charge, even if the older man had started it, but enough to tire him, and certainly enough to make a causual connection. No, he wanted to teach the man a lesson about making assumptions and threatening him. He felt the force of life course through him as he was pulled away, and he dropped his hand, no longer in physical range.:: "I'd say it is. *Goodbye,* Erik. Sleep well."

Erik felt the other man touch him, and suddenly he was very tired. Perhaps this was a part of the man's powers? He felt rather weak, as though he could sit down and fall asleep right then and there. Deciding he needed to leave, and seeing the younger man turn and begin to walk away, he did the same. This encounter had irritated him completely.

::The pull on Karl's body disappeared as the older man stormed off. He, with his own already poor mood soured further, resumed walking in the direction he had initially been headed. And people might wonder why he put little stock in identity politics. With men like Erik around, why would he?::
