::Odin didn't require skin-to-skin contact for his powers to work; he did not need his hands at all. It was for the sake of appearances that he used them generally, and in this case, if she needed to break his fingers from stress...he would deal with that in Chicago.:: "However you're more comfortable; it doesn't matter to me."

She left the glove on, took his hand loosely. It felt strange even through the glove; she was used to Pietro's strong grip, and didn't have physical contact with other males in general. Her face was pinched, feeling as if an axe blade was aimed at her back.

"I'm sorry," ::Odin told her sincerely, holding her hand loosely in his; she would have control of grip. With that, he concentrated, his fingertips tingled, and as though he stood with a powerswitch in his hand, he deactivated her X-factor.::

She didn't reply to his apology, and when he deactivated her X-factor, her reaction wasn't to grip his hand, it was to recoil away completely as if he'd hurt her. In a way, he had. She solidified completely, and stayed that way, but didn't have the heart to enjoy the feeling. What she'd lost was dominating her attention. Nothing felt real; she'd lost the connection to life that she'd always had. Heartbeats, and the simple pulse of energy of things that weren't human or mutant...it was all gone. When the Professor had blocked her powers, she'd always felt like if she reached out with her mind just a little further, the powers would be there, and they might have been. With this...it was as if they didn't exist. Just like that.
She stood shaking with her fists clenched, gritting her teeth against both tears and anger.

::Odin was inwardly recoiling, just as she had physically; however, he did not have the luxury of expressing that. He didn't consider this natural, which was why he balked at it, even when it was necessary. When she released his hand, he brought it back to his coat pockets, found the half-empty package of tissues he carried for his glasses, and he offered them to her.::

She saw the movement from the corner of her eye, shook her head almost imperceptibly. "No. I'm not going to cry here." Her voice was hard against doing exactly that.

"You can still have them," ::Odin responded, and he had retreated behind a veneer of calm that he needed at the moment to cope with everything happening around him. His arm remained outstretched, offering the tissues should she choose to take them.::

"No!" He was calm, but she was very much not, and what would normally be minor annoyances suddenly became a big deal.

::With what was the equivalence of a shrug, Odin brought his hand back to his pocket, depositing the tissues and remaining surrounded for warmth. He didn't so much as blink in reaction to her outburst; as far as he was concerned, it was more than warranted.::

Long moments passed before she spoke again, this time with more control, even if it was faked. "Thank you for being willing to help." She owed him that, at least, because he had offered help when other things were obviously causing him trouble. Even if the temporary-she stressed that word in her mind- solution was not what she wanted.

::Being thanked for this was just short of pushing Odin over the edge of his emotional control. He knew that in many assault situations, a perpetrator would demand his victim thank him for not taking further action, or for doing whatever he had done; he would not allow that dynamic to evolve between them. They were...well, he wouldn't necessarily categorize them as "friends" because they barely knew one another, and had met in a nightclub when he had offered to do her a related, though less severe, favor. But they were on friendly terms.
He shook his head slightly, using that subtle shake of his because it was ingrained. Calmly, because he needed that veneer, he said,:: "Thank me when I come back with energy and availability for a permanent solution. But not now."

She gave him a look that mixed emotional pain, relief, and mild hope all in one. "I will."

::Odin would never get used to that look, or any similar look he received, and it certainly would be ingrained in his memory for the rest of his days. He needed to remain in business mode, for his own com:: "You'll probably need to sleep a while later, to get used to this. It can be disorienting."

"I've been this way before," she said, her voice almost at a whisper. That twenty four hours had been long and frustrating, and she had needed sleep, just due to the frustration. Her stomach cramped; she was nauseated.

::There was a story there, as Odin hadn't noticed a Cure spot in her gene; however, he didn't inquire. It wasn't his to know, he wouldn't make her dwell on this further, and he didn't have the energy at the moment. Instead he nodded, remaining calm as necessary.:: "I'd offer you something to drink or to smoke for later, but I don't have anything on me."
