::Xavier returned her embrace without hesitation, although her words stung him unintentionally.:: "I love you, Abigail."

When she pulled away from the embrace, she smiled at him. "Wanna watch a movie with me after dinner tonight? You can pick it," She offered.

***********
It was a month or so after that, and Erik was still living at the mansion. Charles was still behaving distant, which puzzled him. But he contented himself with the fact that no one attempted to murder him, and he could enjoy life surrounded by so many mutant students. One did miss teaching.
He had been here for a month and a half at this point. It was a sunny day, and he was going for a stroll through the gardens when he saw a peculiar sight, or rather, felt it. The metal in the area was positively *humming.* He felt it's call in his blood, and felt it being manipulated by a force other than his own. Walking towards it, he was surprised to see a young student. It was a female student, but her back was to him and she wore a hat over her dark hair. The metal called to her as it did him, because he saw her focusing, there in the grass, upon a simple coin. There were several types of metal there, all of varying sizes, and he guessed she was practicing control.
It was amazing, to think that there was another magnetism mutant here. Why hadn't Charles told him? He had guessed the other man was having relationship problems, and was upset by that, but he couldn't imagine why Charles had kept that information from him. He could have spent this time trying to help her. And Charles knew he wasn't trying to corrupt anyone!
Not wanting to disturb her, he watched for almost a minute before walking away. He would speak to Charles about this, and ask why he hadn't been consulted on helping train a student who needed it. At his office, he knocked on the oak door firmly.

::Xavier had been in his office watching Abigail through his picture window. He training was coming along nicely, although it would take years for her to develop refined control such that Erik or Jean possessed. He felt Erik's mood and sighed wearily upon hearing the firm knock on his office door.:: "Come in."

Erik entered the office when he was bid, and shut the door behind him. His expression was one of confusion. "I've been here for almost two months, old friend. And you've had a student here who controls magnetism and you didn't tell me? Think of how much I could teach them," He said, walking closer to the other man. What had happened to his old friend?

::This was not a discussion Xavier wished to have right now. He and Raven had returned to "speaking terms" but continued to sleep apart from one another; they were trying to rebuild friendship at this point, which was difficult enough, intimacy impossible. He had struggled this month with Erik's presence on all levels, while trying to keep Abigail's best interests in mind. With another sigh, he turned to face the other man.:: "I am teaching her basic control, before sending her to you. For the record, I *had* intended to seek your help after she learned basic control techniques."

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, his expression one of deep hurt. "I would have liked to meet with her."

::Xavier hesitated, considering his reply carefully before speaking.:: "I have been occupied, and she is quite young."

Erik's expression changed from hurt to concern. "Charles, what's wrong? You've been so different these past few weeks. You knew I would have wanted to at least make her acquaintance..."

"I am tired, Erik, of everything," ::Xavier said, giving no further background. He did not want to start another argument with Raven, or begin arguing with Erik, or upset the twins...or let Abigail become aware.::

"I am not here to start a fight," Erik said, shaking his head. Part of that was in memory of all the times he *had* sought out Charles specifically to fight. "But I want to spend time with you, Charles. I'm your friend, and you've been avoiding me."

::It was true, Xavier had been avoiding Erik, but he had his reasons. He could not elaborate before making this revelation, which he did not wish to make at the time.:: "If it is consolation, I have been avoiding everyone."

"Not much," Erik admitted. He reached out and patted the other man's arm tenderly. "I miss you, Charles," He told him.

::Erik's touch might otherwise be comforting, particularly since Xavier was not technically involved right now; however...he could not. He feigned a smile,:: "I miss you as well. And when I feel better, we can play chess."

Erik returned the smile, though he still got the feeling that everything was not quite all right. "Take care of yourself, Charles," He said sympathetically.
