"Our north star. Nicely chosen," ::Odin had an interest in astronomy, not the same as he had in chemistry or biology, but an interest nonetheless, and so he admired the choice.::

Lorna hadn't been thinking of that, but she'd go along with it anyways. "Thanks. Where's yours from?"

::Odin took a sip of water before responding; he always sounded more arrogant than he was when discussing his namesake.:: "Norse mythology."

"So..." she waved her hand a little trying to find words, and ended up gesturing at the club in general. "Is it rude here to ask what another person can do?"

"It depends on who you ask," ::Odin replied, which was how most such etiquette functioned. Just as it could be rude to ask what a person's job was in one setting, and not in another; depending on the person.:: "I tend not to."

"Then I won't ask yours," she said, his answer confusing her. So what WAS acceptable around here? She cast a glance toward the restrooms.

"Nor I, yours," ::Odin replied. It felt surprisingly good to be able to keep his answers and his thoughts to himself; he had missed it this past year and a half. He could blend in, feign naivety.::

Lorna wasn't so good at faking anything; it wasn't in her nature to double talk. "Good luck with that, anyways."

::Odin took another sip of his water, not yet ready to return to rum. His abilities had developed subtly, and thus to some extent, he understood the netherworld that was being caught between. Not to this extent, and he had to assume she was the result of those genetic tests, hyped in the aftermath of Alcatraz. He made the decision to reveal that he had overheard her conversation; she had already made the assumption when referencing her name.:: "The waiting never gets easier."

She'd figured he'd heard her comments before, and knew now. "You probably think it's nuts for a human to be in a mutant only place."

"Those metal detectors you passed through on the way inside don't detect metal," ::Odin replied, before taking another sip of water. He set the glass down on the bar beside him.:: "So we know from the onset that you aren't a human."

"Wait...what?" Lorna's brow furrowed. "I've never seen anything that could do that." And it said I was a mutant. She'd been getting that a lot lately, and it was strange. Kitty had called her a mutant girl, and now this.

((OOC: I am operating under the assumption that is the security system here, I believe I read something to that effect. Should I be in error, we can modify and I will apologize profusely.))
::To Odin it was no different than a genetic test, or the merest exertion of his own abilities, but that was from an adulthood of such talents.:: "You go to Xavier's, I overheard. And since I doubt you're a long-lost relative of the faculty, why would it surprise you to be tagged as a mutant?"

"Because being a mutant usually means having powers, and I don't," Lorna said, a little bitterly. It cut to the heart of a very sore spot.

"I have an analogy I don't think I'll use," ::Odin remarked, and shifted on the stool to get more comfortable; this conversation would last for some time.:: "We're a different species, be it manifested in different color hair, the ability to tame fire, or the fact that our children will likely be mutants. It's a spectrum."
