Rogue climbed out of the taxi she'd taken here from the city, paid him off and stood next to the plaque in front of the Mansion's gates, staring at the school, hood of her green coat up around her against the cold. One hand held a duffel bag, and she felt a small sense of deja vu. She'd come here just like this, way back, before Liberty Island. Opening the gate, she let herself into the snowy grounds.

Mystique happened to be outside, going for a walk along the grounds. She loved winter, especially because her skin trapped so much heat, so she could enjoy the outdoors and still be comfortable. Walking towards the gates, she saw a figure in the distance. It was Rogue. She hadn't seen her for quite some time.

Rogue tromped through snow until she reached the plowed path through the grounds, distracted by her own thoughts until she saw a distinctly blue figure coming. Mystique. Well, here we go.

Mystique walked towards Rogue, stopping a few feet away. "Hello, Rogue," She said carefully.

"Hi," she said in reply, her Southern drawl not really diminished even after almost 5 years away from Mississippi. "Can't say I expected you here, still."

"I still am," Mystique said, her tone light, though her posture seemed to almost dare the young woman to question why she was still there. "I can't say that I expected you to come back. You seemed pretty eager to leave."

"Ah don't know if 'eager' is the best way of phrasin' it," Rogue replied. "But here's safer." She paused. "You gonna try to tell me to leave?"

Mystique shrugged. "No, I don't want Brotherhood messes here," She said simply. And that was certainly true; she would do everything in her power to prevent Erik from recruiting or involving the Institute at all.

Rogue turned around. "Ah don't really care who you talk to, Mystique, but Xavier let Magneto back to the Mansion, not me."
