Kitty smiled as best she could with another mouth full of food. She washed it down with yet another sip of her champagne. It was New Years Eve, she told herself, everybody has champagne on New Years Eve.

Doug swallowed his bite of dinner and finished off the glass of water. He almost groaned; not only was he still hungry and would gladly eat the last half of his plate of fettuccine alfredo, but he was also still thirsty. He tried to catch the waiter's eye, but the infernal man just shrugged toward him. It seemed Alonzo Giordano was out to destroy his reputation with Kitty after all. He took a sip from his champagne glass reluctantly. It was good; Kitty hadn't been exaggerating about that.

Kitty smiled as Doug finally tasted the champagne. She didn't want to drink alone, and somehow it seemed more acceptable when he did it. Without thinking, she finished what was in her glass. "I think I'll have just a little more." She said to Doug, pushing her glass toward the bottle.

Shrugging, he refilled her glass, as well as his own. Might as well; it was New Year's Eve. Kitty wouldn't let him do anything stupid. Right?

Kitty giggled, already feeling warm and tingly. "Merci, Dougie." She said, half forgotten high school french her only competition against his arsenal of languages. She ate a little more of her dinner and sipped at her second glass of champagne.

When they had finished their dinners, Doug's tongue was rather loose. "You look so delicious in that dress, gatita," he said, smiling. "You have no idea how badly I want you."

Kitty blushed, but still giggled. She had kicked her shoes off under the table. She looked at the bottle of champagne, almost empty now. "Oh, quit it, Doug." She said, leaning her elbows on the table at a relaxed angle, her upper arms almost parallel with the table.

Doug smirked and reached across the table to twirl a piece of her hair around his fingers. "Gorgeous girl," he murmured, his eyes half closed.

Kitty closed her eyes and her hand slipped, letting her head fall against her arm. She giggled an "Oops" and sat back up. She pointed at Doug. "No, you're gorgeous." She said with a goofy grin.

Before Doug could reply, the waiter returned. "May I get you anything, signor?" he asked.
"You can go away and let me ravish this lovely lady in peace," Doug scowled.
Taken aback, the confused waiter just nodded. "Of...of course, signor," he said, and placed the check down in front of Doug. "Good night to you."

Kitty laughed at Doug, laughed at the waiter. Everything was funny in a kind of distant, detached way.

"We should go," he chortled, "so I can kiss you silly." He grinned, his eyebrows waggling suggestively. He paid the tab without looking down at it, and stood up. "Let's get out of here," he murmured.

Kitty stood up carefully, taking a couple of steps before she remembered her shoes. She turned around and almost fell over picking them up. She stood back up, her shoes in one hand, and jerked at the front of her dress with the other. Just like at Jack's wedding, the dress always felt like it was falling down.

Doug chuckled and held on to her waist so she didn't fall forward. He tried to cop a feel, smirking drunkenly. "Beautiful girl," he sang.

Kitty squirmed with Doug's arms around her. "Watch it, mister." She said with an attempt at a sly grin.
