She shrugged. "Well, I'm interested in helping students with purely physical mutations bring out their full potential." She had helped Strype find a middleground to her mutation, so that she wouldn't embarrass herself when she changed back from the tiger, naked.

"Oh! I really have to work on thinking like a mutant." Betsy laughed. "When you said physical trainer, I thought you meant, like, aerobics." Still smiling, she started to think about her own mutation. "I don't know if mine falls into the category of purely physical mutations..." She trailed off, not sure how to continue, not sure if she was ready to ask for help.

She shrugged. "I'd like to help others get in better shape, so they're better able to use their powers as well," she told her. "But right now I'm concentrating on taking care of my daughter."

Betsy slipped a few inches, but caught herself before she fell. "You have a daughter?!" Breaking into a wide grin, she added, "How old is she? She lives here with you at the mansion?" Mystique seemed too young to be a mother, but the prospect tickled her for some reason. She was suddenly giddy about the idea of a child raised in an environment like this, an environment not only tolerant of mutants, but filled with them!

Mystique couldn't help herself, noticing her excitement and control slipping a little; she chuckled. "Yes, I do. She's almost thirteen weeks old, actually." Time really had flown.

Betsy's eyes widened. "She's just a baby! What's she called?" Betsy couldn't help but continue to grin. For some reason, the idea that this little baby lived here at the mansion made her even more certain that she had made the right decision in coming here.

Her smile widened. "Her name is Abigail," she told her.

"What a beautiful name!" She looked toward the sky, thinking. "Are you happy here?" Realizing that she had spoken too freely again, Betsy slipped again, but quickly regained her resting altitude. She blushed wildly.

"Thank you," she said, smiling softly. She paused for a moment, not expecting the question from her. "Yes, I am, very much." She really was happy here, with Abigail, and Charles.

Betsy felt a strange warmth and sighed happily. "What do other people do here?"

She paused, thinking. "Well, many of the Professor's first students became teachers here, and there are a lot of students. Some just stay here, because there's nowhere else for them to go," she said, shrugging slightly. It didn't matter to Charles; he would take them in, under his wing.

Betsy sighed heavily. "Is it really that tough for mutants out there?" She gestured toward the gates, toward the world. Never having been around other mutants, Betsy had kept her abilities private and never had to deal with any kind of prejudice. On the other hand, she knew that this prejudice existed. She watched the news like everybody else.

"Yes," she said after a moment, nodding. It was very tough. "I can't walk in town looking like this, without fear of someone possibly getting violent. Though I can defend myself, I'm no match for a mob," she admitted. "Mobs can be formed very easily. But things are getting better, if slowly."

Betsy's heart sank. The idea of an angry mob assaulting this beautiful woman just because she was different filled her heart with sadness. Mystique was smart and friendly, she was a mother, but hatred could blind people to these things. "That's unacceptable, I mean, I'm glad things are getting better, but there's no excuse for that kind of ignorance." She shook her head, fighting back tears. "What is being done to make things better?"

"Political progress, that's for sure," she said immediately. "We have a mutant, Dr. McCoy, in charge of Mutant Affairs, as well as evidence being presented at scientific conventions." Politically and scientifically, things were being done to show humans how they should not shun the mutant community. Action and violence was Magneto's way, and that had proved to be completely counterproductive.
