Astral slowed when John did, looking inbetween him and Lance. "I'll do whatever you guys want to do."

Lance looked at Astral. "This leaves room for imagination," he said. "But you know what, you could just try and come up with some shopping list, already now, so that we wouldn't have to hang around for too long when we actually find that store, or a gas station, or whatever. I don't like being out here with all the money-"

Kitty kept space between herself and the rest of the group, slowing when they did. She felt a tiny glimmer of hope when John recommended returning to town, knowing she couldn't come with them.

A list made sense, and would save some time. "We just need paper." John pointed out, as he automatically checked his pockets, which were empty.

Astral gave Lance a short look at his words before she noticed John checking his pockets for some paper. She pulled out the used bus ticket from her pocket. "Will this do?"

Lance just smirked briefly in response to Astral's look, but said nothing. He looked around to see where their fourth companion had disappeared to; the girl was still here but looked like she'd rather vanish.

Kitty felt herself blush as the man looked back at her. She was embarrassed about still following them, but didn't know what would happen if she left. She pulled a pen out of her pocket and took a few steps, holding it out toward John. "Here."

"That'll work." John mumbled, as he took the bus ticket from Astral, and then the pen from Kitty. "What do we need?" He asked, looking over at Astral then, seeing that she had been in charge of the food rations.

"We're running quite low on bread," she said as she thought over their food. "Definitely need some more bottled water. I think some meat would be good, as we can cook that over the fire. Food-wise, we can keep to basics. What about other stuff?"

"Get me an army knife while you're at it," Lance suggested. "Also, while we're still talking about food, I think some chocolate or nuts would be cool. They can be kept for a longer time and they're high on calories."

Listening to the three preparing their list, Kitty couldn't help feeling sympathy for their situation. Even though they were criminals, and John was being so cruel to her, Kitty had a good heart, and hated to see anyone struggle. suffer. She stayed where she stood, closer to John, now obviously a part of the group. Staring at the ground, she scuffed the toe of her sneaker nervously against the sidewalk. "Dried fruit and canned vegetables have a lot of nutrients and keep for a long time." she offered without looking up.

Quietly, John added all the things said to the list, occasionally just jotting down one or two things that popped into his mind.

"Then we'll need a can opener," she pointed out for John to add to the list, knowing how annoyed they'd be if they took back canned foods and only belatedly realised they couldn't open it. "Nuts are a good idea for snacks," she then added in agreement to Lance's suggestion.

"Look, just get me that army knife and you'll have one less gadget to drag around," Lance rolled his eyes slightly. He could never understand people who needed a specific tool for every specific action. What next, dessert spoons? Sheesh.

Kitty was relieved that her comment hadn't evoked any more abuse from John and she felt a little less foolish for being there.
