Lance couldn't agree more. He wasn't sure if John was actually going to keep all this money, but if John was, that meant they could finally ditch the tent. Still, he didn't feel comfortable with them standing here like this with all this money - he had been becoming wary of showing his face in the daylight already enough as it was. "Hey guys," he put in, "are we going to just keep standing here like this?"

At that instant, several things clicked into place in Kitty's mind. First, she realized that what for her was an act of rebellion and an adventure was for them an issue of basic survival. Second, as she looked into these three dirty faces, she thought about the danger. The Brotherhood had tried to kill her in the past, just that day John had threatened her.
She swallowed hard and continued, her eagerness begining to deflate. "I think clothes should be first, because without the packs, you guys are going to have a tough time carrying any amount of food back to your camp."

"Its called grocery bags." John told her, with a roll of his eyes. Looking up the street, then down, he turned, motioning for the others to follow. He was heading in a random direction, but it beat just standing there, after all. Going into the hostel was too much of a set location, and he didn't know how crowded it was.

Astral hoisted the strap of the bag over her shoulder, keeping the bag close to her form as if anyone might notice the money within if she didn't. She didn't say anything and walked quietly, eyes downcast.

Lance had a thought of offering to take the bag from Astral but then decided it would be better if he just followed the girl and kept an eye on the things that were going on around them; that would probably be safer.

Kitty opened her mouth to protest, but said nothing. She shoved her hands in her pockets and followed the others. She didn't understand why they needed her anymore if they were just going to pay for everything. She kept her head low, knowing she had to see this thing through to the end now that she was involved. Seeds of panic began to sprout in her stomach, but she forced herself to just keep walking.

Continuing to lead the way, John glanced around, not caring if Kitty followed or not. He was just searching for any grocery store, that was big enough that they couldn't be closely watched.

"John," said Astral quietly as she walked, clutching the strap of the bag. "Will there be any stores open at this time of night?"

Lance had no idea what they were specifically looking for at the moment; he would have preferred if they found a place for the Brotherhood to stay, and the rest could be taken care of later, but he kept silent, just following John and Astral, with his hands still in his pockets and his face partly covered from view with the hood of his gray sweatshirt.

Kitty kept pace with the others, feeling useless and scared. Her mind raced. She had made a huge mistake and wouldn't be able to hide it from the Professor and he would probably kick her out of the mansion. She clenched her hands into fists in her coat pockets.

"There has to be something," John quietly responded to Astral, though he wasn't sure either. But it was the city that never slept, right? That had to mean that something had to be open then. It was only late into the evening.

"Yeah, I suppose so," Astral sighed as she continued to walk along, feet dragging a little by this point.

"Gas stations," Lance muttered a suggestion. That was mostly for food.

Kitty could hear them discussing their options ahead of her. She wanted to turn and phase into the next building she passed and just run away, but the last thing she needed was for John to think the wrong thing in his paranoid state.

John gave a nod at Lance's suggestion. A gas station could work. "Or, we could just head back to the town, and buy sh*t there." He suggested, his pace slowing down a bit.
