"She is pretty," Connie replied the first thing that came to mind. "And she has pretty dresses and long hair." Some of the chocolate sauce was now smeared around her mouth. --- Gambit had to admit to himself, it did feel nice; her hand caressing him, her lips on his neck... he was starting to relax and in a while seconds caught himself thinking that Kate had stopped discussing the matter with him. What was it he wanted to know, exactly? It seemed like he'd been given all answers, or he simply couldn't remember well, slowly succumbing to her.

Shade didn´t know anything about Kate and was therefore unable to draw any conclusions from what the girl said. All she knew was that she was probably some random girl Gambit had once had a one night stand or affair with. She was certain now, for some reason, she was not his wife. "She sounds nice." she just replied randomly but with a smile Connie could only interpret as benevolet even though she was feeling quite a bit more tense than she appeared now.
She noticed that half of her attention was on the door. Nothing. No voices. Had she been able to hear voices before or had the door isolated the sounds fro outside well enough? She was unable to tell and or some reason that made her nervous. Also because the whole situation had most obviously caught Gambit off guard, he had not expected the girl to show up here and thus had not expected meeting her mother. What if something was wrong about that? She scowled inwardly.

"She is nice," Connie agreed, "and she buys me any toy I want, too," she added. "And we used to be poor but now we're rich and I can ask for any toy I want..." she scrubbed the side of the dish with a spoon to get the remains of the chocolate out. --- It was only when Gambit realized he was having a hard time staying alert, and was getting rather sleepy than awake, that something finally clicked together in his mind. The dress, the attitude, the conversation, and most of all, Kate's still being attached to his neck in a peculiar manner fitted together into one picture.
He pushed at her stomach, shoving her off him, and tried to sit up, his head spinning slightly from the effort. Kate hadn't expected him to do that, and fell off to the side with a slight grunt, but quickly sat up, too. Her chin was slightly smeared with blood, and Gambit wasn't at all surprised, already having come to the conclusion that she was a vampire.
"You f*ckin' bitch-" he scowled in disgust, at the same time hating himself for being so slow in guessing. As he attempted to get up from the bed, already prepared for anything, she vaulted at him at once, pushing him down again and attempting to expose his neck again. She was very fast, and it took Gambit a while to wrestle her weight and her hands off him again, throwing her down onto the floor.
He jumped off the bed and moved to the door, but Kate was on him in a matter of seconds. Gambit collapsed to the floor on his knees under her weight and the momentum of her attack, and tried to get her off him, when he felt her bite his neck again. It was getting harder to fight and his blood kept trickling down his neck the entire time.

Shade scowled faintly at that. Used to be poor, but now they were rich? Well, that probably meant her mother had maybe found a better job... or a rich guy. Either that or Gambit had provided them with enough money to not be worried about such matters.
In that moment Shade heard a dull sound. Raising her head, she tried to locate it. It was faint through the door and she maybe would not have noticed if she had not been listening out for sounds. She didn´t move for a moment, listening, trying to concentrate over the sound of Connie trying to scratch the last remaining bit of ice cream from her bowl. Another thud. Suddenly she was scared.
"Connie, I want you to stay here for a moment okay?" she said, getting up. "You can eat all the ice cream you want. If you don´t, Remy will when he comes back." she added with a smirk that was meant to be joking but that was just a mask to disguise how nervous she suddenly was. Then, without another word she went towards the door and sneaked out.
She had been right - there was noise coming from somewhere. As it had become a habit in possible dangerous situation around Gambit, she vanished and then spun around trying to locate where the sounds came from - it unmistakably sounded like a fight. And it came from the bedroom. "Oh, please...." she muttered, but her worry was stroger than any urge to roll her eyes at that and she just ran towads the bedroom and ripped the door open.
What she saw nearly made he scream. Gambit was on the floor and there was blood, far too much blood smeared around his neck, at least as far as she could see with the strangely dressed female on top of him who was.... biting him? Her instincts kicked in immidiately, forsaking her own thought of safety. She leapt at the woman and sank both her hands firmly into her hair before Shade jerked her head back with as force as she could.

Connie looked at Shade with some confusion for a moment. "Okay," she said, then put some more ice cream into her plate. --- When she encountered another opponent, Kate became angry. She could see that Gambit was becoming weaker by the minute and very soon she would either have him all at her disposal, all his blood, or would offer him to have him 'converted'. But now her plans came against an obstacle!
She reached behind her, groaning as her head was yanked back and she was forced to leave Gambit alone. She felt someone's hands and tried to scratch those with her long sharp nails.

Shade clenched her teeth in pain when she felt the woman´s nails scratch across her left hand and intsintivey withdrew it. Of course she couldn´t see what those scratches looked like and didn´t know if they drew blood, but she was in a state that slightly dulled the pain, her adrenalie high, her heart racing as she jumped back in an attempt to avoid the attacker grasping at her, looking around for something she could use to her advantage.
She hadn´t had the time yet to take in the full appearance of the woman in front of her, she had not yet spotted any pointed teeth and drawn any conlusions from this, but what she saw was that Gambit was wounded and a hectic glance towards him when she yanked the woman´s head back told her he wasn´t doing too well. Which probably meant that the other one was a serious opponent, if Gambit could not really keep up with her.
Shade had no idea how to fight properly and solely acted on instinct. She had get her away from him before she coul further harm Gambit, everything else was secondary for the moment. She attacked again, this time not yanking the other woman´s hair but delivering a rater uncoordinated fist towards the back of her head that would be painful if it hit and hopefully distract her further.

Forgetting about Gambit, Kate turned around quickly and searched the room for her unexpected opponent. She saw no one, but then when she turned again, she received a heavy blow on the back of her head.
She stumbled with an 'ungh', but turned around very quickly. Her nature granted her high reflexes, and strength uncommon for women. She wasn't afraid of any opponent - the problem was, she couldn't see any at the moment. Her eyes scanned the room and she was prepared for an attack from any direction.
The last bit of fight had weakened Gambit a lot, adding to his blood loss, and he was lying by the wall in a dazed state, barely keeping conscious.

Shade´s eyes widened, both because she could now see that Gambit seemed indeed heavily affected and unable to move much and because of how quick the other woman reacted. She was fast, too fast for Shade´s liking and it scared her. Still, besides the fear that was creeping up inside her, anger was the stronger emotion and she had to force herself to at least try and think...what, reasonable? She felt like rushing towards that women with her fingernails first but faint, shaky inner voice told her this would not leave her a chance.
She wasn´t used to fights and assessing the situation quickly, like Gambit most likely would have done, had he been in her place now, was difficult. She could see the woman´s chin was smeared wth blood and for a moment, when she whirled around she thought to spot a pair of sharp, pointed teeth. Just in time she could avoid jumping back and bumping into the wall, causing a thud that would give way her position. Being invisible was her up against this...woman...thing and she forced herself to keep quiet, clasping a hand over her mouth to keep her breathing down. A weapon... she needd some sort of weapon. He eyes were darting this way and that, feverishly looking for something.

Kate spun around quickly when she heard a sound behind her, her eyes focusing on the spot near the wall. "I know you're still here," she said, walking in this direction. The closer she stepped, the more pronounced became the faint smell of blood. She glanced at her fingernails - it looked like she had managed to scratch the other person's skin. Who the hell was it in Gambit's apartment, anyway? Someone invisible? And her daughter was here, too, in the company of this thing?!

Shade´s thoughts were racing. If she didn´t take care, this woman would be too close to her to escape, invisibility or not. Why the hell was she heading into the right direction anyways? Did she have such good ears?! When she spoke, Shade just stared at her, probably bearig quite a resemblance to a deer in the headlights, now certain about the teeth. This was just too strange to comprehend for now.
At least her attention was away from Gambit, she told herself. All she needed now was to, heck what? What sort of a chance did she even stand? She didn´t dig into the matter further, her slowly growing panic still centred around the thought of getting something to defend herself. A knife... Yes, something like that. But it meant she had to get into the kitchen, possibly get Connie into the way and beside the kitchen didn´t leave much space for escape. Hectically she mentally went through the rooms in the apartment, but didn´t come to a concrete idea yet.
When Kate made another step towards her, she saw herself confronted with a choice: run for it or wait till she´d grab her. Of course she took the first. Her steps seemed extremely loud to her, clattering along the floor even though she did not wear shoes, just socks. It sent a bolt of panic down her spine and she felt the uneasy surging sensation of her stealth kicking in when she was already making her way towards the room with the fireplace, an idea of where to find a weapon appearing faintly in her overtaxed thoughts. All of a sudden, as the stealth kicked in, her steps were loudless, but that didn´t help too much in calming her down. She knew she´d not be able to keep this up for too long.

It was hard to follow a faint smell of blood, yet Kate found herself returning to the hallway again. She was fast, and alert, and angry. What kind of an apparition was that, that left no trace? Trust Gambit to have dealings with that kind of a creature! She gave a disdainful smirk.
There were other doors, and as she didn't believe any of them moved in the past few seconds, she chose one of the two rooms that had their doors open. She entered it; it looked like a spare bedroom.
(( Not the one with the fireplace. And disregard the PM I sent you, lol ))

Shade could hear the woman was following her and was incredibly glad her stealth was providing her with some protection for now, even though she could feel already that it was something she had to concentrte on a lot in order not to let it slip which worked for now but was difficult with her trying to keep her senses together and her panic at distance. She breathed a loudless sigh of relief when she saw her opponent lose track. She had sped through the door into the room with the fireplace, noticing in a horrible moment of fear that this wasn´t the wisest thing to do. Had Kate followed her into the right direction, she would have noticed the short and fainting footsteps Shade´s feet left on the fluffy carpet when she entered the room, looking around hastily. Her eyes darting through the room, she found something and quickly moved over to the fireplace. Then she took the fireplace poker off its hook, careful not to have the metal give a sound as it scraped the wall. Extending her power to the improvised weapon, she concetrated hard to keep up her stealth. She had to do something, and do so quickly, either distract the woman or shut her in somewhere so she could see to Gambit and call an ambulance if needed. She had no idea how much blood he had lost, but the mental image made her move quickly and she left the room again, her hands tightly around the poker, leaving the room mostly because she didn´t want to wait for this crazy...something to decide she was not in the room she had just walked into only to enter this one and be able to locate her because of some suspicious footsteps that indicated where she was. She turned around a corner, a bit away from the door so in case the woman would come dashing out she would not directly bump ino her, but close enough to be investigating, the pointer raised slightly in a poor attempt of having something to defend herself if necessary. And not just defend, also attack. Shade was not a violent person, but this crazy person had not meant to just give Gambit a harmless bruise, which mean she would not get away with that little either if Shade had a say in it. ((okay. It was having me confused-eth ))

There was no scent in this room, so Kate left it and headed for the next one. She was slowly growing more and more aggravated, she felt like she was being played like stupid toy.
The scent was gone. Or, probably, it was being blocked by Gambit's blood Kate still had on her face.
That made her turn around and move towards the room where Gambit was. She had lost track of her attacker, but Gambit was probably still alive and, well, half-full of blood. She paused in the doorway of that room, looking over her shoulder into the hallway, just in case.

She was fast, even when merely investigating, and Shade had to press herself against the wall, when Kate passed by her, missing her just by inches. It was the only reason why she didn´t keep her from crossing the corridor once more, because she had seen those reflexes and had the woman stumbled across her, she would not have been able to scramble away so fast.
When Kate had passed her however, obviously heading back towards Gambit, Shade became active again, once more motivated by her fear. That beast was obviously not going to leave him alone, so Shade ran after her and swung the pointer across her shoulder, aiming to deliver a heavy blow from right up to left down. It was slightly unbalanced since she nearly stumbled in further attempts to keep up her stealth, but it was a blow that would heavily smack her shoulder if it hit since Shade put all her strength into it.
While her weapon swooshed down onto Kate Shade noticed that she could actually hear it happen. She could hear the air drift past the metal, leaving a faint audible trace of something being swung and noticed at the same moment that her stealth was snapping back into her subconsciousness.

Kate did hear the sound of the 'weapon' slicing the air behind her. It was fast, and she turned just as fast - in time to receive the blow not across her back, but right on her upper arm. She felt and heard her bone crack, and she gave a loud yell of pain. It blinded her for a moment, but then she already knew where the attacker could be, and she turned around, swinging her leg up in a kick sufficient to hit anyone hard at any point of the swinging radius.
In the meantime, Gambit was already mustering enough strength to get back onto his feet. The floor was rocking under him, as if he were severely drunk. Weapon, he thought. He needed a weapon. Fast. His glance fell onto the nightstand. There.
