Shade could hardly imagine living with an outlook like that, thinking things could and would only get worse. She had learned in the last two years or so that this could very well happen, that from one minute to the next one might find oneself faced with a situation too big to instantly cope with, mortal danger even. But strangely, or logically for her, this had turned into an attitude far from pessimism. Maybe her outlook on life had even become more positive than it had been in younger years even though it rooted in different reasons now: she had experience that life could be incredibly short and even though she was not ready to live a carpe diem attitude to the full in every respect that realisation had made her see things in a different light: of course things could always turn out worse but why not shrug that idea off and see what positive surprises life helt? "We´re pretty different, you and I." she stated.

::Pietro nodded slightly. He had noticed that several times over the past year and a half. Apart from living here and being mutants, and he assumed being in love, they had little in common. Not that it was necessarily a reason for value judgment, since he considered nearly everyone around him a bit more foolish, or if they were equally cynical but more violent - a madman - but it didn't keep him from liking certain others, like Kyra or Emily. But they had a poor first encounter which colored how they interacted, and he didn't think much could be done to overcome that. He believed in first impressions.:: "Yes, pretty different."

It was a realisation that had established itself firmly in Shade´s mind. She wasn´t a person that would find problems in differences, she liked to socialize also with people that were different from her, because she had come to the realisation that people sharing your every opinion and outlook were boring company in the long run. Never anything to differ on, never an attitude one couldn´t share was no basis for interaction in any way. So diversity was totally fine. Yet, there was diversity building on another basis and the one that her and Pietro had was an example for that. She did not fear him, but lacked the slight initial trust or benevolence she usually showed against people she didn´t know too well. It would have been different had not their first encounter been such a harsh one. She just nodded for now, adding nothing to her statement since there was no reason to.

::Silence fell over them, and Pietro was not moved to try and force conversation. They had come to a point, a realization that he himself had had several times since meeting her for the first time a year and a half ago, and then thinking through matters more rationally. He doubted that this was her first time realizing it either, although it was the first time they had cause to discuss it.::

Looking across the grounds for a moment, her thoughts straying nowhere in particular, Shade took up her book again after a moment, continuing to work. She didn´t feel the silence to be awkward, but she didn´t really find a reason to talk to him right now and didn´t feel like looking for one. Again, a differene here from other conversations. Her action was not intended as rude, just as a change from conversation back to what she had been doing previously.

::Pietro did not take the action as rude, but to say that their active conversation was finished for now. They both had other tasks to complete in this same area, and if the need arose to talk again, he would not hesitate. With a long jump, he caught a lower branch, and began to climb back to his previous position in the tree to resume his chin ups.::
