Single Parent Support

[Morph]

Kevin raised his eyes at her. He was surprised that she came to this conclusion this fast. It didn't occur to him that the girl could be a mutant and have corresponding powers, so he figured it probably showed in his voice or something. "Yeah," he agreed, glancing back at Mark again. "I guess she will..." As he continued playing with Mark, trying to occupy his son for the rest of the waiting time, he opened and closed his palm, watching Mark attempting to catch the fingers.

Seer just gave a small nod and looked around again. Not wanting to press even further upon the subject. She didn't want to put him in an uncomfortable position.

[Morph]

Morph raised his head, watching yet another person leave the office and the next one enter it. There were three more people before him, and it occurred to him that he should probably let the girl go first - for her, waiting in this room was probably less bearable than for him, and he was sure he and Mark could make it through ten more minutes.

[seer]

Seer smiled and then glanced at the man sitting next to her. "It's very nice of you, but you don't have to do that." She told him, knowing very well that he hadn't spoke. She only hoped that it wouldn't freak him out too much.

[Morph]

Morph blinked, then looked at the girl. "Huh?" he asked, his expression genuinely confused. "Did I say that out loud?" He was sure he could have, since he knew he had a tendency to drift away in his thoughts lately.

[seer]

"Uh..." Seer wondered if she should say 'Yes, you did' or the truth. "No, you didn't." She told him.

[Morph]

Now Kevin was finally able to put two and two together. He stared at her for another second, then glanced around the room to see if anybody was listening to what they were talking about, quiet as they were, and leaned closer to her, just in case. "Are you not afraid to reveal yourself like that to a complete stranger?" he asked, very surprised.

[seer]

"I am what I am. And I shouldn't be afraid to reveal myself to anyone." Seer told him, her voice quiet as she looked at him, but not exactly caring if anyone else in the room heard or not. The only thing she feared was people getting uneasy around her and pushing her away simply because of what she could do.

[Morph]

"Maybe not," Kevin said. "I just think I would be extra careful if I were in your place." He paused and then added, "I always try to be careful in choosing whom to show who I am." Besides, his powers, when used, were mostly very noticeable for everyone around.

[seer]

"I am careful." Seer said. The only reason she had let herself be known to him, was because he was a mutant. She still wasn't one to trust humans, but she didn't care if they knew about her or not, she was highly capable of taking care of herself. She smiled at his later words. "I'm careful to whom I show myself to, as well. I make sure a person is mutant friendly before I go and start speaking towards their thoughts." Her voice even quieter as she spoke now.

[Morph]

Kevin grinned. "Guess I'm a safe choice, then." He felt Mark drag his dad's finger to his mouth and quickly pulled his hand away. "Hey-hey, little buddy, daddy's hands are not the thing for your mouth." Instead he picked the pacifier that was hanging on Mark's neck on a plastic chain and offered it to Mark's lips. "Here we go."

[seer]

"Yes, you are." Seer grinned back and then chuckled as she looked down at Mark. "So adorable." She murmured.

[Morph]

"You'll have two just as adorable soon," Kevin said, smiling.

[seer]

Seer smiled softly at that. "Yeah..." She said and looked down at her stomach, running a hand over it.

[Morph]

"Do you have anybody who'll be helping you in the first months?" Kevin asked with a concerned look on his face. He assumed the babies' father wasn't there since she was sitting here applying for a single parent aid, but hopefully there were some friends or relatives.
