Pietro and Wanda headed to medical lab to attend to their injuries. Erik was left alone with Charles.
Throughout their long friendship Erik had left and returned countless times. When they met again their greetings were usually tense and strained. Erik regretted that each time.
At this meeting Erik’s thoughts were divided. On one hand he knew it had been Charles who’d sent the ambulance to help him after his battle with the twins. Yet Erik was discomforted by the notion of Charles and Mystique’s relationship. He had thought it a farce at first but now it had turned far too serious to ignore. Erik wondered what Charles had up his sleeve.
There was a tried note in his voice when he finally spoke.
“Hello old friend.”

::Xavier wheeled closer to the other man, suppressing a sigh. Erik's tone was what he had both expected and dreaded. Why could they no longer have rational, pleasant discussions? Yes, their lives were complicated, they had lived through more trouble fighting one another than any man should. At the same time, they had their pleasant memories.:: "Hello Erik."

Charles had always been good at hiding his emotions while reading others so well. Yet Erik knew him well enough to sense when he had aggravated him. He didn’t mean to drag Charles into his own foul mood.
Thank you for your assistance with the ambulance. He thought loudly, sure Charles would pick up on it.
“I’d like to stay at the school again.” He was asking Charles’ permission, as a sign of friendship.

::Xavier received Erik's thanks, loudly projected as it was. He had been worried about Erik, and he doubted the other man knew he had visited even, in the beginning. He wanted to project back to the other man, but words could not begin to fit. How he had been worried, how he had needed to do it, because it was Erik and he was himself.
He knew the next words were coming, even before Erik uttered them. He did not need telepathy for it; he knew the other man too well. He wanted to invite him back into what had once been their home, into a school where they had taught together. He knew himself, and knew he would allow Erik to return. His anger had dissipated months ago. But there were loose ends that needed to be tied. With Raven, Marie, the X-Men, and the twins, to name a few.:: "Erik, you know what my answer is. But you also know that an altercation is not the way to begin the evening."

“Thank you again Charles. Hospitality has always been one your strong suits.” Erik asked quietly and soberly the following: “May I beg your pardon about what just happened? The twins and I were just finishing what we had started at Alkali Lake. I can’t say it won’t happen again. They take after me and have my anger.”

::Xavier sighed softly then. He was quite aware of how the twins had inherited Erik's temper, but that did not excuse any of this. They had greater concerns, and could not be torn apart by in-fighting, no matter how legitimate its origins.:: "The three of you will need to watch those tempers. As you know, we have children here."
