((OOC: Everyone is welcome, as long as they are not with Weapon X. Let us try to keep this free from major incident, although minor skirmishes are fine.))
::It was an election year, and during the summer, candidates were officially chosen by each party, although the caucuses during the winter and spring weighed heavily. Vice Presidents were chosen, stances on issues were officially taken. And once again, the issue of mutant rights was at hand. The past term had been less than stellar, particularly because of the Cure.
The Village, with its particularly diverse makeup, was home to a number of protests and rallies throughout the year. With politicians coming that weekend to pander to New Yorkers, it was only fitting that a mutant rights rally had been organized in the same area. Professor Xavier had heard of its organization and passed the information along to the students and faculty, but there had been signs everywhere announcing it to New York at large.
In the heart of the Village, there were mutants and their supporting human friends and family. Shopkeepers were into the theme, selling buttons and tee shirts that were mutant-themed. And of course, the small but vocal group of religious protesters who came to every rally in the Village.::

Morph knew that now such events were in his line of interests if he wanted to continue producing a mutant-related magazine. Leaving Mark at home with Tabitha, he came prepared, with a camera and a notepad. Getting his credentials for carrying out a reporter's job on the spot was easy now that the magazine was officially registered, so he wasn't worried about the legal side. Only worried whether he could handle something like this.
He also let Golem know about the opportunity; after all, Elias was their interview man.

When Elias arrived at the scene, having parked his bike a short way off, the Village already looked rather busy even though not yet crowded, but he figured that would change only too soon. For practical reasons he had taken a simple notebook with him this time, not some lose sheets of paper put into his planner like last time (since he was sure he had lost two of his postcards somewhere around the institutes and this place would get more busy than that). Making his way along the street he took in the different faces, many of them obviously mutants, a colourful mix of people, fascinating to say the least. In his mind he was already wondering whether and how he could get an interview from some of them.
He spotted Morph in the middle of it all and raised a hand to catch the other manĀ“s attention. He had a camera with him, he noticed. All the better.

Logan had been in Canada the last time a mutant protest was held, and he had heard in passing that it had gotten violent and quickly out of hand. Now he was back in the state, he figured he could go down and check it out, and at the same time, keep an eye on things. And if things started getting a little heavy handed, he'd more than glad to step in if the police were struggling to control anything. He hadn't come down alone, however. He had company in the form of Rogue. Reaching Greenwich Village, he had parked his bike a few blocks away and he walked closer to look over the gathering crowds.

Rogue kept close to Logan as they headed towards where the protest was being held, clearly expecting it to be anything but peaceful. Especially if John was going to turn up. Walking with her hands in her jacket pockets she looked towards where people were gathering, hoping things would go okay.

Avalanche hadn't really drawn any protest banners, prepared rotten eggs or anything, but went to the place of the rally just the same. Those he'd been to in New York before the Cure Wars had been just too much fun, if you considered my-oh-my-I-so-risk-getting-a-random-brick-in-the-head situations fun.
He decided to simply hang out and check out things, he really had no particular plan concerning the event.

Paige of course had heard about this first from the Professor, before she had gone to the city a few weeks ago to see flyer's about it. She wasn't about to not go to this, she felt being apart of this rally if it meant that people would finally understand that mutants should have the same rights as humans. She wasn't sure how her mom would feel about her going to this protest, but she wasn't here right now.

Hearing of the protest, and seeing the somewhat advertising that had taken place, John figured it would be a good place to not only try and get more mutants aware of the Brotherhood, but also let the rest of the city, the country even know, that the Brotherhood, yet again was at large.
Informing the rest of the Brotherhood of plans to stir up mischief, John soon headed into the city, having told the Brotherhood to just come if they wished. The whole thing however, had been sort of hushed, seeing that John didn't want Lucy to get word of exactly what they were planning on doing.
Having dug out his wrist ignitor from his previous Brotherhood days, John had attached the device to his wrist, figuring that if he needed it, it would be there, easy access, opposed to the fumbling around in his pocket for a lighter. Glancing around at the various protesters and passing by people, John began to move towards the largest group of people.

Having heard about this rally from John, they had agreed previously to meet in the city at the start time, and Astral was currently down there, looking for John. She had guessed they'd be doing a lot of walking today, so she had opted for soft, flat shoes that matched well with her summery dress and shoulder bag. Well, not everything had to be miserable today, did it? She was stood to one side of the crowd, arranging her hair absently before she spotted John walking by not too far ahead and she hurried over to him. "John!" she called, so he would notice her.

Siryn had responded to the plans for the protest quickly, jumping on the bus heading into the city. She needed no tools of the trade. Only her voice. A tingle of anticipation raced up her spine.
Once at the protest she headed for the heart of the crowd, head darting left and right, searching for her team mates.
"Yo, John!" she called out, catching sight of him up in front of her, hearing someone nearby do the same.

Things had definitely not worked out with Astral and while he wasn't exactly happy about how things had gone, he definitely wasn't going to mope around the house. Especially when he caught word of a mutant protest. He wasn't about to just sit in the mansion when something like this was taking place in the city. And for some reason he had a feeling Astral would be there and if Astral was there, chances were a certain John would be close by. He wanted to have a chat with him.

Hearing his name being called through the crowds of talking people, John's head jerked up. Looking around, he spotted the familiar, faint glow of Astral, walking towards him. Keeping his lighter hand down by his side, he waved with the other one, a distracted look on his face, as he continued to look around, trying to sort of get a lay of the main protest, along with the small, usually loud group of religious protesters who always made themselves be heard.
"Hey-" He greeted, not looking over at her, just as he heard his name being called yet again. Looking over in the other direction, he spotted Siryn. Offering her a short wave, he moved to stand on his tiptoes, in attempt to see over the heads of the people, better.

Paige glanced around before she noticed two familiar people, John and this guy who she wasn't sure she knew the name of. She did see him around school though. Deciding to moved towards the somewhat unkown guy, she smiled a little. "Hey."

Eclipse had been searching for John but was distracted by someone greeting him. An unfamiliar, but attractive blonde. She had his attention. "Hey," he replied with a faint smirk.

Reaching John's side, she brushed her hair out of her face, giving him a cheerful grin. She saw someone else come over and waved politely to them. "This is kinda fun!" she decided with a giggle, enjoying the atmosphere so far.
