Not Only Books Need Rescuing

"That makes getting hurt all the more inviting prospect," Michael remarked. "But okay, I'll try to stay away from trouble. Same as you, I guess."

"Good." Maya said and then leaned up to place a small kiss on his lips.

[Smiler]

After Maya gave him a short kiss, Michael pulled her closer to him and leaned his forehead against hers. "You know, this is a strange situation we've gotten ourselves into," he said. "I have no idea where we'll end up."

"I know." Maya breathed out and closed her eyes as her forehead rested against his. "Hopefully we won't end up hating each other."

[Smiler]

"Well, I can't hate you," Michael replied. "I physically can't. But yeah, finding myself on the opposite side of the barricades is quite possible. I really don't want to think about it now."

Maya nodded. "Me neither." She said softly and then wrapped her arms around him in a hug.

[Smiler]

Michael stroked her back softly, not knowing what else to add to this.

Maya was content at the moment and then groaned when she heard her cell go off. She pulled away from Michael and gave him an apologizing look and then reached into her pocket and grabbed it, flipping it open. "What?" She snapped. "Yeah, I've seen them. I know. I'm in the city. Alright. Okay. I'll be there as soon as I can." She said and then closed her phone and stuffed it back in her pocket.

Sighing, she looked up at Michael. "I have to go." She said quietly.

Michael nodded, accepting the change in the situation. "I'll give you a call as soon as I find out about this dancing class," he said. "Or maybe even sooner."

"Okay." She said and leaned up and gave his lips a soft peck. "I'll see you later." She said and then went to leave.

Michael left in another direction, just silently hoping Maya would be okay.
