"I see," Michael said. He made a small pause. "So you're trying to tell me you want to keep away from me because you care about me. That's good to know. But I'm not so easy to hurt - trust me, I can protect myself from most people." He tapped one finger on the side of his head lightly, as if showing where the source of his powers was.

Maya cracked a small smile and looked down at the table. "I should keep away from you, I need to." She glanced up at him. "But, I don't want to. I wanna be with you. I know you can protect yourself. I just worry about you. You're on the top of a small list on the things I worry about."
((I'm going to go to bed now))

Michael smiled. It was probably the first time he'd allowed himself to fully smile in her presence, and probably the first time in a few years, too. It didn't last long, though.
"You know," he said, "I may not look it, but I'm stubborn enough to be a real pain if I got my mind set on something. Which, in this case, happens to be you."

Seeing him smile fully like that was a thing to behold. It was beautiful and it made her have butterflies. Maya couldn't help smiling back. Though, it was gone too soon, she still smiled. "You want me bad, huh?" She said playfully. "Well, since you're being so damn stubborn-"

Michael nodded. "And also, when you're done pushing me away, I have a suggestion I thought was innocent enough to make... under present circumstances."

Maya's brow quirked up at that. "A suggestion?" She took a second and then nodded. "Oh, fine. I'm done pushing you away."

"Wanna go to a dancing class with me?" Michael asked. He had no specifics yet, only the idea that had been suggested to him by his doctor, so he felt like doing it together with Maya and now it seemed like the time to offer it.

"A dancing class." Maya repeated the words and slowly nodded. "Okay." She smiled.

"My doctor suggested it to me, that it would be good for my heart and all," Michael explained, "and you can probably guess you're really the first one I'd want to be doing it with."

Hearing it would help his heart she gave a slight nod, knowing she'd do anything that would help with his heart. Then hearing his words after, she held her tongue on what had first come to mind. She blamed those on paint fumes. Maya's smile grew a tad. "Well, I'm all in for it."

"Great," Michael said. He finally remembered he had a glass of orange juice standing in front of him, so he took a sip. He noticed Maya's emotions and couldn't help but ask, since he preferred not to let curiosity bug him, "What was it you wanted to say but didn't?"

Maya was about to take a drink of her tea and paused, looking almost like a deer caught in the headlights, a blush tinging her cheeks. This was one of her rare shy moments. "It was nothing, really." She said with a small laugh and then took a sip of of her tea, before setting it down.

"Okay," Michael agreed, seeing it wasn't nothing, but she had her right to keep her thoughts to herself, of course. "I will give you a call as soon as I find a suitable class... I hope John or whoever isn't listening to your phone calls. Will Westchester be an okay place for you?"

Maya grinned. "John wouldn't listen to my phone calls. If he did, I'd kill him. And Westchester will be just fine." She told him with a small nod.

"Good," Michael nodded. He paused with another sip of his juice. Inwardly he ran over the points they'd reached during this conversation. Maya cared about him, she wanted him to stay away from her connections so that he wouldn't get hurt, she was with Brotherhood and he told her it didn't matter for their relationship, and she also agreed to go to a dancing class with him. All seemed fair and clear. He wasn't certain about his attitude towards her and the Brotherhood thing, but he remembered he had told her back in the mansion that as long as she was safe and could take care of herself, it didn't matter to him who she was with. He decided to abide by that idea for now, and that it would work itself out eventually into something clearer.
"Do you feel safe at the-" hotel, she called it? "hotel where you live?" he asked, still wishing to make sure she was all right with her present setting.
