Michael had no idea where Maya was living now, other than she'd mentioned it being outside the city. However, she'd given him a hint for the future meeting place the last time they'd seen each other, so he arrived to that small book shop in Manhattan, the one near which they'd once been ambushed by the Sentinel. He sent a phone message to Maya beforehand, hoping she'd be able to make it to the place eventually, and he was ready to wait for her.
Stopping by one of the bookshelves, he picked a random book and glanced through it.
(( Just this one post, and I'm off, I can't stay awake anymore. ))

Maya had been looking through the files she had collected down in the basement when she got Michael's phone message. She had dropped what she was doing and went and caught the bus to Manhattan. It took some time, and she waited impatiently until it stopped and she got off. She walked the rest of the way to the book store and paused before entering. She tried collecting herself, making sure her emotions were in check, not only for Michael, but herself. Entering the book store, she glanced around for the familiar presence

Michael was glancing up from the books every now and then so as not to miss Maya when she would appear, and so he noticed her coming in. Looking out from behind the shelf to be more noticeable for her, he waved his hand to draw her attention.

Seeing the wave she made her way over to him. "Hey." She greeted with a small smile and then stuck her hands in the front pockets of her jeans. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

"No," Michael replied, "I'd say you're right on time. Are you up for a walk?" The book shop seemed quiet and, besides, Michael saw no point in staying there.

Maya gave a small nod. "Sure." She said and gave a quick look around the book shop with a small smile, before heading back towards the exit.

Michael followed her. When they were outside, he touched her hand carefully. He didn't think she'd mind, but still he didn't want to intrude. "So how are things?" he asked.

Maya looked down at their hands. "Good." She said softly and her hand gently touched his back. "I've been working quite a bit, though." She said and glanced at him.

"You have?" Michael asked with interest, just simply taking her hand. "On what? Your powers or-"

"Painting." Maya said with a small laugh. "I've been painting a lot and I've been doing some other things too. My powers don't exactly need working on."

"Okay," Michael replied, accepting what she said about her powers. "I wish I could get a glimpse of your paintings... What have you painted?"

"A hotel." Maya blurted out. "The only actual art work I've done is a paiting of my...roommates." She said with a small shrug.

"Portraits," Michael nodded. "I know I can't see them, but it sounds like a lot of difficult work..."

"It's not." Maya said. Difficult work to her was having to sit through a meeting with mutant hating humans. "So, what about you? How are things with you?" She asked and gave his hand a small squeeze.

"I guess I'm okay," Michael said, not quite knowing how to fit everything into words. "Bordering on bored and lonely, but okay."
