(( set after "Reading by the River"; closed )) Buying a newspaper in the morning to check the classifieds was slowly becoming a habit of Emily's. She was still trying to avoid jobs like waitressing and cleaning, hoping her start in the working world wouldn't have to be such a drastic change from what she'd been used to. So far, she'd had a series of job interviews and didn't get much feedback from those, so she still counted herself as unemployed and seeking a job, even though there were still a couple of places that had not given her a direct refusal. She really wasn't good at this. Or maybe it was just summer - time for all unemployed graduates and students to fill the job market. Emily was sitting at a café that had become one of her favorites, having a latte and perusing the job ads in the newspaper.

((Set after "Returning"))
Rin was feeling good. After having returned to the mansion, and hanging there for a bit, he decided to peruse the city he had become relatively fond of. Taking a casual stroll through the town seemed a good idea, to clear his head and make decisions. There were lots of schools, and his thoguht processes hadn't come up with which one he wanted. Stifling a yawn, he glanced a cafe on the side. 'Caffiene would do me good' he thought, before stepping inside and finding a seat near the window, ordering an ordinary hazelnut coffee.

The job ads section was finished, the latte - halfway. Emily sighed and leaned back in her seat, drumming with her pen against the table in exasperation. She folded the newspaper. Nothing new, nothing promising. She thought that maybe it was time to start lowering her requirements for the future job. And now all she could do was finish her latte and leave the café. To go where? She had no idea.

Rin sat back in his chair, sipping through his coffee and simply enjoying his alone time. He sighed deeply, before glancing around the cafe and spotting a cluster of blue hair. He smiled, immediately recognizing who it was. He decided to go with the quiet approach, and simply watched her until she felt watched, and would look around.

It didn't take Emily long to finish her coffee. She had absolutely no clue she was being watched. That is, not until she looked around the café before getting up from her seat and noticed a familiar face by the window. She beamed - she hadn't seen Rin in ages - got her purse and stood up to head towards him.

Rin smirked mischievously when he saw her approach. He hoped it wouldn't take long, but he was glad she actually did notice him. He gave her a wave with one hand as he sipped his coffee with the other. "Hey there." He said kindly.

"Hey," Emily kept smiling as she sat down on a vacant chair next to him. "How are you? I feel like I haven't seen you in a century..."

Rin chuckled. "Yeah, it certainly has felt like that!" He took another sip of his coffee. "I'm doing well, looking for colleges and stuff. How are you?"

"Well," Emily demonstrated the hapless newspaper to him. "I'm going to start my pre-med this fall... and I'm looking for a job at the moment."
