::It was painful for Xavier, to think of all that he could not do for his daughter. However, he could view her milestones, which he would otherwise have missed.:: "With the wheelchair, it would have been unwise for me to have been your primary driving instructor."

Abigail nodded solemnly. "I know, Daddy. Remember when I was little and you'd let me sit in your lap?" She remembered how he'd put aside his papers for awhile while she sat in his lap and told him about her day.

::Those were not memories that Xavier would lose. He remembered those days of her childhood with clarity.:: "Of course I do, Dear."

"I miss things like that," She said, looking up at him. "All of my friends' dads didn't have a wheelchair, and I thought it was special, because I got to sit in your lap every day after kindergarten or when I asked."

::That positive attitude was proof positive that she was Xavier's daughter. Only an Xavier could find positive in the fact that her father could not play sports with her, or run with her, teach her to ride a bicycle or to swim.:: "I tried to do what I could."

Abigail's face turned into a wide grin. "You did better than that, Daddy," She assured him. "I felt like I had a Daddy who was secretly the best one of all, and no one but me and Mommy, and everyone here knew."

::Xavier smiled at that, and if he were more than a ghost, his heart would have warmed.:: "I'm quite fortunate you developed into the young woman that you did."

Abigail's smile widened, and she sat straighter in her seat on the bench, feeling proud to be called a young woman. "Thank you, Daddy." She felt mature and happy. "Do you know how long you'll be here?" She asked curiously. She had asked him once before, but he hadn't been sure then. And she wondered how long she'd be able to see him, or if she would see him all the time, for good.

::That was a question that Xavier had tried to answer for himself, to no effective end. With no accurate books on the subject, no other person he could ask, he found himself with no answer.:: "Unfortunately, I do not."

Abigail nodded and looked down at her sneakers, somewhat disappointed that they both didn't know. "What if I go away to college and you disappear?" She asked sadly.

::It was time for his usual Xavier optimism, to reach his daughter and put this in perspective.:: "If that happens, you will have had six years that most other people do not get, and you should be grateful for it, just as I will be."

Abigail nodded in understanding, looking back up at him. "If you're still here, Daddy... I want to get married in the back yard, so that you can see too."

::A soft smile touched Xavier's lips, although it was one partially of sorrow and partially of hope and pride at that. He would very much like to see her married, should he exist at that time.:: "If I am still here, Abigail, there is nothing that I would like more."

"I hope so," She said happily. "I guess we'll just have to see, right?" She had hope that he still would be. And hopefully her Mom would move on and be really happy again. Like she was when Daddy was still alive.

"Yes, we will," ::Xavier overheard her surface thoughts with ease, and he agreed. He wished for Raven to move on, and intended to speak to her about it through her dreams tonight.::
