::Pietro nodded slightly, returned her gaze. He had confidence in her, though she doubted herself. He sensed a surviving spirit within her, knew that she would overcome at her own pace.:: "Yes."

Emily didn't want to dwell on the subject any longer; it wasn't actually making anything better. She needed a change of topic, but nothing positive came to mind. There had been Sentinel attacks in the city, as much as could be decyphered from the poorly informed news reports. There had been Lily's funeral; the weather wasn't much fun, and Emily had had troubles taking care of her fishtank without her powers, she didn't even have any wish to take care of it at the moment. "Anything positive in your life?" she asked randomly, hoping at least one of them wasn't seeing everything in tragic light.

::It was a peculiar question for Pietro to answer. These past two weeks had very little positive in them, between the bank robbery, Magneto's return, the constant fights, and the renewed reason to distrust the shape-shifter. These past weeks he had barely slept, and barely eaten, but he had eaten one night, and the memories of that meal came to him.:: "I turned thirty."

Emily smiled wide; that answer was unexpected, but she liked it. "Congratulations," she said. "I wish I had known before," she added, "a challenge of coming up with a present for you would've been an interesting one. There's still Christmas, though..."

::Pietro felt her expression to be sincere, though it was one that often was spoken in the interest of pleasantries. Christmas...he had had little cause to celebrate that holiday those past years, but now he did. Should they survive, he would go shopping. He nodded slightly.:: "There is always Christmas. And I do not usually get birthday presents."

Emily almost opened her mouth to ask, 'Why not?', but in time thought it would be a rather tactless thing to ask. "Christmas it is, then," she nodded, "even if I'm not here then, I'll mail it to you."

::Her declaration that she may not be here at Christmas did not surprise Pietro. After all, the mansion was a school; she had a family she might wish to see. Deeper than that, when they had first met, Emily had bought a fish tank to give her reason to remain here. Frightened of the consequences of her abilities, she would have less reason to wish to remain, at least presently. Yet, she spoke from fear and loneliness, and did not have a concrete plan to leave that he would argue with her. That would come at a later time, if at all. He nodded slightly.:: "I will do the same."

Emily gave a sincere, wide smile at that again. She knew the change in her mood for the better was temporary; she'd been there before - it would shift back as soon as she would return to her room. Still, it felt nice at the moment, and she indulged herself. "Something to look forward to," she said.

::Pietro nodded slightly; it was something to look forward to, if they survived. There was no reason to make that point, not now, however.:: "Yes, it is."

Emily threw a quick glance around: it seemed that she'd had her fair share of damp and grey October weather for the day. She looked in the direction of the mansion, then back at Pietro. "Do you want to return inside?" she asked.

::Pietro followed her gaze to the mansion, and then returned it to her face. He would leave when she did; he had no particular reason to remain outside.:: "Do you?"

"Yes," Emily said. "All this water around makes me nervous."

::Pietro nodded once at that; it was understandable, her discomfort.:: "Let us go inside."
