"It's us against them," ::Odin replied. He had never been a parent, had never had a family to be so possessive over. Whatever falling out she and Magneto had, and from the press and what she'd told him, there was good reason for it, better a mutant than Laudine Piercefield and her robotic death machines.::

She nodded, looking serious. "I'll try to keep that in mind when he's watching me give birth, rapid firing snide comments about how my legs are uncrossed yet again."

::Odin's tone and expression remained serious.:: "Did you ever consider not having him at the birth?"

"Locked doors won't keep him out, you know," she pointed out. "But hopefully Charles can throw him out, and keep him out."

"If he's so set on watching, then you've both unresolved tensions to work out. Better to do it now before you find yourself flat on your back, legs spread, with the child's head crowning," ::Odin replied, tone serious despite the description.::

"Oh god," she uttered in horror, at the thought of Erik watching while that was happening. "The same goes for his children, I won't have them in there, either. They're convinced I'm the devil incarnate."

"Take it up with them and make that plain," ::Odin advised. If she didn't say it now when she wasn't hysterical, she'd find herself ignored and in pain. He knew that much of birth, though he hadn't seen one since his own.::

"I plan on it," she said, nodding. "So, will you come back and visit to see the new addition sometime? You know you're always welcome to stay here," she added.

::The question burned in Odin's mind, and he found himself uttering the three words he detested most to use together.:: "I don't know."

She nodded in understanding. "Well, you should think about stopping in for Thanksgiving." She couldn't help but think how...motherly and tame she sounded at this point and time.

::Odin shook his head. He might not have set plans for Thanksgiving, but returning here was nowhere on his list. He needed time to recuperate, then he needed to return to his work and remind himself that he still had purpose in this world.:: "I don't buy into the Thanksgiving tradition, but thank you anyway."

She smiled sadly. "Of course. But I hope to see you visit sometime before the child heads off to nursery school," she joked.

"I'll see what I can do," ::Odin replied, the closest to a commitment that he was willing to make at the moment.:: "You have my card if you ever need to call."

"I do indeed," she said, as she eased out of the chair slowly, standing in front of him. "Take care of yourself, Odin," she told him, smiling gently.

::Odin stood and gathered his suitcase, slung his work bag over his shoulder. It was time to move on.:: "I always do, Mystique."
