She had been sitting in a chair by the lake, trying to relax by reading another book. It wasn't good at all, and was a poor choice on her part. With a sigh, she set the book down, and looked at the lake. It reflected the sun across its many ripples, and looked like shards of diamonds across the water. Picking up a stone, she skipped it. It bounced once, twice, three times, before sinking under and was no more.
Looking up, she heard someone approaching. She'd been distracted by her thoughts not to notice, for them to be so close. Turning, she saw that it was Logan.

"You're still here? Would have thought you'd have left by now." He moved to stand beside her and looked out over the water.
((I've decided food can wait until dinner.))

"Why would I leave?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Becuase you don't live here. Why are you here anyway?" Logan had never really figured that one out. He'd thought it'd had something to do with her being dumped by Magneto...but she was still here.

She shook her head. "I'm here because it's my choice to stay. And Charles wanted me to stay here, protected, for the duration of my pregnancy," she said.
((be right back, dinner!))

"Wait...he's protecting his impregnated archenemy for nine months. Has he lost it?"

She raised an eyebrow. He didn't know it was Charles'? She'd thought for sure in all of Storm's ragings that everyone knew about it by now, especially the rest of the staff. "It's his," she said simply. As if saying it simply would cover the complexity of their relationship and everything surrounding it.

Wolverine flashed from anger at the Professor for toying with their safety to almost amused. "Well, it seems Charles isn't perfect. He's actually done something... that wasn't motivated by his creed of tolerance and caution."

"No one's perfect," she said with a shrug. Even though sometimes Charles tried to take the world upon his shoulders. "Nevertheless, I'm staying. Here, with him."

"Whatever. Hey, I'll even let you in on the Xmen parties, shold they ever be organized. But if you ever hurt one of my friends, I will kill you. No questions asked." He looked back at her, perfectly serious.

"You know, it's odd, how many people have said something along those lines to me during my stay here," she said dryly. "And I'm tired of killing, and fighting for Erik's dying cause." He really had nothing to worry about from her.

"Well, then I guess we'll call it a truce." He extended his hand to her.

"Truce," she agreed, extending her hand to grip his firmly. "It's hard to believe I've been here for sixth months," she commented, leaning back in her seat once more.

"It's hard to believe I've been gone for two." he confessed. "This plance kind of stays with you. It's hard to forget, even if you try. Even if you want to walk away, something always pulls you back." He studied the way the water moved on the surface of the lake, splitting reflection in fragments. The shattered images floated on a sea of broken glass, as the small ripples moved throughout the pond.

She nodded, her gaze shifting from him to the lake, in all its peaceful tranquility. "I think I'll be here long-term," she said finally, thinking of the charm bracelet, and its tiny little 'X' symbol.
