Jack continued to scour the grounds, using his keen eyesight to see the distant undergrowth. He wasn't sure how much more there was to do, but didn't mind, since he wasn't at all tired yet.

::They were out in the rolling grasses, closer to the outer recesses of Uncle's property. Pietro knew the area like the back of his hand, and soon they would reach the edge and would double back, before ending the sweep for the time until the next one. It was routine. "Obsessive," Samson had called it, and he ignored the memory for the moment. It wasn't as simple as he had hoped, and thought that conversation, not idle about the weather, but something more important might drown it out. That is what motivated Pietro to ask his question.:: "When is the due date?"

Jack was surprised to hear Pietro asking him a question, let alone a question in relation to Link's pregnancy. "9th July," he confirmed, looking back towards him. "Not long to go now," he admitted, suppressing a sigh as he looked over the grounds. It brought his thoughts back onto Link's recent admission and his frown returned.

::That was a few weeks from now, which to Pietro was an eternity, but he knew that for the average person, it was not a particularly long time to prepare for an infant's arrival. Whatever comment he might have made died when the other man frowned. Perhaps he wasn't excited about the birth, and thus rather than call more attention to it, Pietro merely nodded.::

Jack just nodded in turn, remaining silent for the time being. He wasn't aware that Pietro had met Link and didn't draw any conversation towards her. He didn't quite realise that his reaction might have been interpreted in a negative light.

::They continued at a light pace towards the outer edges of the property, through green grass and wild flowers, trees lightly dispersed. If Pietro were not in such a foul mood, he could better appreciate nature.::

"How much longer?" he asked, not in an impatient tone, but simply curious.

::Pietro pointed in the not too far distance, where the property line was.:: "As soon as we reach that, we double back."

Jack followed the direction of the point, nodding as he saw the boundary. "Alright," he answered at that.

::That answered appeared to placate the other man, and Pietro lapsed into silence once again; conversation was not his forte.::

Jack continued to walk alongside Pietro towards the property line, so they could continue their scout. Upon reaching the border, as Pietro had told him, he turned to begin doubling back and proceed back across the grounds and towards the mansion once more.

::Pietro started back at pace with Jack, through the ground that they had already covered. They'd circle back around and end up back where they began, at the mansion.::

Jack had not really expected them to find anything suspicious or dangerous on the grounds, for he was firmly of the belief that this was one of the safest places in existence now that the Station wasn't held in high regard in that sense anymore. Reaching the point from which they had started, he turned to face Pietro as though they needed to evaluate the sweep.

::There was little to be said; the grounds were quiet as they tended to be. Back at the patio, Pietro leaned against the wooden railing.:: "It's simple enough, is it not?"

"It is," Jack agreed as he slowly looked over the grounds before back towards the other man. It had been good to spend time out of the mansion and away from Link. His mind had still wandered, unfortunately, but he had been dwelling less on his thoughts than he might have had he been sat doing nothing at all.
