((OOC: This is Part Two of Xavier's Adventures in Walking, which is an April Fool's Day Epic. This thread is also open.))
::The weather outside was simply delightful, and the Professor decided to take advantage and walk through the grounds. He was hunched slightly, relying on his cane, but he was still taller than he had been in over a decade. Spring was in the air, and he was ecstatic at being able to move of his own free will.::

Mystique was in the kitchen, when she saw Charles walking outside on his cane. She smiled softly; it was truly a miracle, and she was so happy for him. She sent him a mental message: *Charles, it's nearing lunch time. Would you like me to bring something outside? We can have a picnic.*

::Xavier heard Raven's mental question, and he turned on the grounds to better face the Institute proper. He sent a message back to her,:: *I would enjoy that, if you are not otherwise occupied.*

*I am not at all,* she sent happily. *I'll make sandwiches now.* She was already in the kitchen, after all. And today was such a gorgeous day; they might as well enjoy it outside.

::Xavier continued his walk, making his way to an area beneath a particularly shadey tree.:: *I will await you here.*

*Excellent; I'll be out in a few minutes,* she sent. Then she went about making sandwiches. She made turkey, one of his favorites. She also grabbed two apples and granola bars. Putting them in a small basket, she went in search of a big blanket they could sit on.
Soon she was outside, and saw Charles waiting for her under a large, shady tree.

::Xavier had not sat, instead he leaned against the tree, using it for support in substitution for his cane. He had sat more than enough this past decade. When she approached, he greeted her with a soft smile.:: "Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon, handsome," she said, smiling as she saw him leaning against the tree. When she was close enough, she set down the basket and rolled out the blanket for them to sit on.

::When the blanket was out, he sat down, holding his legs outstretched.:: "Thank you for the impromptu picnic."

"You're welcome," she said, smiling broadly as they both sat down on the blanket. "I thought it would be nice, considering the weather we're having today." Reaching into the basket, she pulled out a bottle of water and handed it to him.

"It is," she agreed, pulling out a bottle of water for herself. "Did you enjoy your walk around the grounds?" she asked, already knowing the answer.

::He nodded in assent, answering the question.:: "I most certainly did; it's pleasant, to be able to reach branches and bend over to pick flowers."
