When Brady went to the doctor for her routine check-up, she and Kevin agreed that it was high time to ask about the baby's sex; Kevin decided to come along since he, too, was curious and didn't want to wait until she'd tell him.
They were waiting in line at the door of the doctor's office, and he stared around, with his legs straight in front of him crossed at the ankles.

(( A few days after 'Out and About'. ))
Brady was sitting down with Kevin a little nervous but mostly excited. She was going to find out the sex of their baby. She had a small smile on her face as she looked around the doctor's office. One hand resting on her swollen stomach as the other went to take Kevin's hand.

Feeling Brady's hand, Kevin took her hand into his own, turning to look at her. "You okay?" he asked with a small smile.

"Yeah..." Brady said slowly and started to rub a hand over her stomach, "Nervous is all. And excited, very excited." She said smiling at Kevin and then brought his hand over to her stomach, placing it on an area the baby was currently kicking, "Seems the little one is too."

Kevin pressed his palm to her stomach; he didn't have to wait long before he received a kick on the hand. It wasn't as surprising as it felt the first time he'd felt that, but still seemed amazing to him. "Whoa," he grinned. "Who do you think kick more, boys or girls?"

"I don't know, probably boys," Brady said with a small laugh. "What about you? What do you think, love?"

Brady grinned and then looked up at hearing her name called. Which then she looked to Kevin, "Well, I guess it's time to find out for sure now." She smiled and slowly stood.

Kevin stood up with a sigh that obviously signalled his complete obedience to fate. He followed Brady to the doctor's office, staring around at the stuff there and pretending he wasn't staring at all.

The doctor introduced himself to both of them, for he was new and her usual doctor was out sick, and then had Brady lay down and pull her shirt up until her stomach was in full view. At this moment Brady felt a little self conscious and waved Kevin over to hold her hand as the doctor started to get the ultra sound machine ready.

Kevin sat down, holding Brady's hand; she seemed so nervous, he couldn't even put himself in her position to guess why. He looked at her, only glancing at the doctor who was putting cold gel onto Brady's stomach.

Brady bit her bottom lip at the coldness of the gel. The doctor pressed a few buttons on the machine turning the screen on and then started to roll the gel over her stomach with the smaller part of the machine. A picture flicked up on the screen and a 'thump thump' sound filled the room. Brady grinned at seeing her baby, their baby, and hearing it's heartbeat. The doctor started to point things out like legs and arms, though everything was pretty easy to see at this stage in her pregnancy.
"So, mom and dad," The doctor started, "You ready to know what your having?"

"Uh-huh," they both responded, and Kevin grinned. He would much rather have guessed it himself, but he couldn't make out any details on the ultrasound picture unless the doctor pointed them out for him. A few months ago he had some preferences over what he wanted his kid to be, but now it all flew out of his head at seeing the baby move on the computer screen. As long as the baby was healthy (and, hopefully, didn't have any unusual physical mutation right now for the doctor to freak out at), he didn't really care whether that was a boy or a girl. He did hope a little bit more it was a boy, though...

"Congradulation you are going to be parenting a little..." The doctor paused, "boy in the next few months." He said giving them both a grin.
Brady's eyes widened and she was grinning. She giggled and looked to Kevin, "We're having a boy." She giggled again and cupped a hand over her mouth her eyes filling up with happy tears.

Kevin grinned as well. He'd had some faint worries that his shapeshifting mutation could have influenced the baby already now in some way, but it seemed there were no signs of that yet. "Cool," he said, looking at his excited wife.
