Shade´s birthday

[Shade]

"Interesting question." Shade said, honestly thinking about it. "Normally I´d say trust first, love then... but I guess this time it might have been the other way round. I started trusting you that evening in the hotel after those guys kidnapped me. I´m not sure when I fell in love, a little earlier I guess."

[Gambit]

Gambit chuckled. "Now how exactly could de kidnappin' be a reason for startin' to trust Gambit?" he wondered.

[Shade]

Shade had expected pretty much a question like this. She chuckled a little as well, trying to explain. "Well..." she said. "that evening I understood you had kept that part of yourself from me to protect me from that. Might sound a strange thing for you to base trust on but I think I understood a lot more about you that moment. Enough to admit to myself what I felt and somehow enough to trust you. I thought ´whatever he feels and things about you, he means to keep you safe.´"

And there were more incidents that fit into just that scheme. What he had told her about Sinister and in connection to that his attitude towards protection during sex. The voodoo bracelet he had given her. Shade didn´t know whether he was really supersticious but he was so more than her, so that present also fit into the ´protecting Shade from evil´ category. She had been wearing the bracelet ever since and was so even now.

[Gambit]

"Ah, okay," Gambit said. It was strange how his secretiveness and keeping things from her to protect her and himself resulted in trust in her side. Things had a strange way of working. "But trust don't cover only matters of safety," he remarked. Especially not in the relationship.

[Shade]

"I know." Shade said. "but thinking about it now I saw it as a starting point. You never told much so I grabbed for what I could get to know and started building from there." She didn´t mean this to sound desparate or anything, it had just been her way of proceeding. She was naturally curious but when it came to his secrecy she partly decided to let him chose his own pace. So she had started to collect little pieces as she had called it in thought, trying to get a picture from them eventually. That was how things worked for her.

[Gambit]

"An' did ya never consider an old wise sayin', 'Ignorance is bliss', chere?" Gambit smirked, taking a bite of the sausage.

[Shade]

"Nah." Shade said, grabbing for her sausage on a stick. "well it can be at times, sure, but too much ignorance is hardly a good thing." She took a bite of her sausage which was a little burnt at one end but apart from that, edible.

[Gambit]

"Oh yeah," Gambit nodded, "sometimes I forget I'm datin' a teacher."

[Shade]

Shade gave him a broad grin. "Yup." she said. "´Knowledge is power and all that.´ ´Ignorance is bliss´ so doesn´t work there."

[Gambit]

Gambit tousled her hair in a playfully gruffy way. "Ya'll drive me nuts someday," he said. "Is it your profession dat makes ya so curious? Or, rather was it your curiousity dat made ya take dis profession?"

[Shade]

Shade snickered a little. "The latter, definitely." she said poking Gambit in the ribs slightly. "I´ll drive you nuts? Ah come on. I´m not that bad."

[Gambit]

"No, you're not," Gambit laughed, "but I might be allergic."

[Shade]

Shade let out a reproachful laugh and boxed his shoulder. "Allergic? Against me?"

[Gambit]

"Allergic t' people who're overly curious," Gambit teased.

[Shade]

Shade chuckled. "Overly curious looks different with me I guarantee that." she said.
