NIGHTCRAWLER
The gardens of the mansion had their very own beauty, Kurt noticed. He liked solitude, he never needed many people around him and found peace when he was alone without feeling lonely. It was evening already with the sun starting to set and the shadows getting longer. He had walked out and sat down on a rather big stone somewhere at the edge of the flower beds, doing nothing but just thinking and watching the evening, feeling content. His tail was slung around his feet.
PIETRO
::Pietro rounded the grounds, at lightning fast speed, completing his early evening security sweep. All was well, at the moment, and with precaution so it would remain. The sun had begun to set, casting an orange background to the serenity of the grounds.
As he circled the garden, a blue, tailed man caught his eye. Not Hank, far too slender, and the tail demonic. One who preferred to know those around him, eve though he tended to keep to himself, Pietro dashed over to introduce himself.
Speaking in his normal voice, with merely a hint of accent, he inclined his head.:: "Good evening."
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt had closed his eyes for a moment, oblivious to the world around him. When the other mutant appeared in front of him, for a moment he thought to see another teleporter, before he recognised that he had merely been running very fast. He did not flinch however, being used to sudden appearance and disappearance.
Looking at the other, he noticed he had not seen him before although his features looked familiar and reminded him of Magneto who he had met before when the X Men had freed the children from Alkali lake. He had always been a little scared around Magneto and the similiarity in the features of the young man brought back that memory although it did not lead to further assumptions.
"Good evening." he replied with a little smile, reminding himself of manners and thus not using German as he used to with bits and pieces such as greetings.
PIETRO
::There was no surprise at his sudden appearance, as most were. Perhaps a similar mutation, or noticing the ears, Pietro considered, better hearing. As he took in the other man's appearance, how the color was neither fur nor scales, he focused on language. He spoke with a considerable accent, one that he, himself, had not matched, even in childhood.:: "Sie sprechen Deutsch?"
NIGHTCRAWLER
He was surprised at this sort of address and nodded. "Ja." he said. "Sie sind nicht der erste, der das fragt." he continued. Was this man a German? He had not noticed a considerable accent.
((what Kurt said was: "Yes. You´re not the first one to ask this."))
PIETRO
::Pietro nodded once, his form of acknowledgment. His question had been superfluous, Belgians had different accents, but it was curiosity and courtesy. The other man must have come to America fairly recently, for his accent to be so thick.
Who else had asked? Most student, considering how curious they were. But had the other man meant asked in German, or simply asked the question? Aside from Wanda, Uncle, and Magneto, Pietro knew of nobody here who spoke German. Magneto had been removed from the picture, he reminded himself with a sense of accomplishment, and it was not the sort of question Uncle would ask. Had he met Wanda? And Wanda had failed to mention it?
Pushing the questions aside for later, he continued with the introduction.:: "Ich bin Pietro."
NIGHTCRAWLER
It was unfamiliar to hear words in German. It was his mother tongue but he had not heard them for quite a time. It made him smile and reminded him of home.
"Und ich bin Kurt." he said. "Kurt Wagner. Leben Sie hier?" ((Do you live here?))
PIETRO
"Ja," ::Pietro replied with a slight nod of his head. He and Wanda did live here, at least for the present. Where they would be in a year, after that child had been born was a mystery, but for now, they were home where they belonged.
The other man appeared happy, grateful for the use of German. And Pietro would not rob him of that. Still in their father tongue, he asked.:: "Und Sie?"
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt gave the other man a smile, telling him he was grateful for the other ones modesty and will to talk in German. English was not too hard for him, but his own language simply rolled off his tongue easier, although he realised that his time in the States were already beginning to give it a small, almost non-existant accent.
"Ich bin vor einigen Wochen hergekommen." he said. "Aus Boston." ((I came here some weeks ago. From Boston.))
PIETRO
::Boston, that was interesting. Whatever had brought the other man there must have been relatively quick, for him to end up here. Pietro had only been to Boston once, on a class trip, but he'd found it unremarkable enough.:: "Mögen Sie es hier?"
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt nodded. "Ja." he said. "alle hier sind sehr freundlich." Different from the city, he thought where being a mutant meant to be different in a way that made other people either scared or hostile. ((Yes. Everybody here is very friendly))
PIETRO
"Freundlich genug," ::Pietro replied with a slight nod. It occured to him that the other man had most likely not met Magneto, which immediately put out a calmer, friendlier atmosphere. As for the students, most of them had been friendly, albeit as frightened of him as his attitude tended to make them. Some too friendly, as they found it necessary to wake he and his sister when they were napping.::
NIGHTCRAWLER
There was a slight reserve in his words. Maybe, Kurt thought, Pietro was someone who was no friend of the company of too many people. Something he could relate to although their reasons for this might be very well different. "Wie lange sind sie schon hier?" he asked, eyeing the other man.
((How long have you been here?))
PIETRO
"Wochen," ::Pietro replied automatically. It had only been a few weeks since he and Wanda had returned from Europe, on a rampage to seek out Magneto. Although the wait had seemed like an eternity, the time afterward had flown by.
Yet, that wasn't a fair answer to the other man's question. He had spent years here, growing into the adult her was, as a student, long before any of the recent chaos. Although it wasn't recently, it still should be accounted for.:: "...aber vor langer Zeit, Jahre."
NIGHTCRAWLER
This answer maybe shouldn´t surprise. Xavier´s seemed like a nice and friendly place, a place students would come back to later, after finishing their studies. Kurt tried to imagine how it felt to call a place like this ´home´.
"Sie waren Schüler hier?" he asked.
((You were a student here?))
PIETRO
"Ja," ::Pietro said with a nod. It was simpler to explain his past that way, then to get into a discussion about Magneto, his sister, and their childhood.::
NIGHTCRAWLER
Nightcrawler smiled a little, looking into the distance. "Das muss ein gutes Gefühl sein." he said. "Zu einem Ort zurück zu kehren, der einmal ein Zuhause war."
((This has to be a good feeling. To return to a place that was a home to you once))
PIETRO
::He had been a student here, he and Wanda both, although it had been far more complicated than that. Magneto, after learning he was their father, had sent for them. Traveling half-way around the world, they found themselves in America, learning English, from two strange men. In a house that had few other people, but all their same age. They would have been there, had they learned anything, or not.
Still, they had been students, and they had learned. And that was the story that Pietro told others, who hadn't been present for his childhood.:: "Sie könnten das sagen."
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt smiled a little. He had talked to some of the students already, not to many, but those he had talked to partly had a difficult background. He could imagine many of them had been driven away from home and made this place their new home. "Irgendwann wünscht sich jeder, ein Zuhause zu haben." he said thoughtfull, knowing this was true. He had been homeless in many ways for a long time, skipping from place to place just so very typical of his powers. Staying at a place at a time felt unfamiliar, but good.
((At some point everybody wishes for a home.))
PIETRO
"Ja, und manchmal sind wir glücklich genug, Ein zu finden," ::Pietro agreed, settling down in the grass. There was something at once calming about this other man's presence. Almost as if he was at peace with himself, and nothing could disturb it.
Pietro had never known that sort of peace. To know his place in the world, to know who he was, apart from being defined by his sister, or worse, his father...it had always been beyond him. This other man, Kurt, was admirable in this way.::
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt nodded and his tail slung around his feet again. The other man seemed different from himself, there was an air of slight bitterness he couldn´t explain, but this didn´t matter. Everyone had his own story to tell and his own reasons to be who he was. "Das ist wahr." he agreed. He had been looking for a home for quite a time, he realised. Unconsciously maybe but it could not be denied. And although he was a loner at times he had as well been looking for the company of others. He had been alone.
"Sind Sie allein hergekommen?" he asked. Most students came here on her own so it was kind of a random question but it was insteristing to talk with the other man so something made him ask.
((That´s true // Did you come here alone?))
PIETRO
"Nein, Ich bin hier mit meiner Schwester gekommen," ::Pietro replied with a slight shake of his head. He never went far without her. Both times he had come to this house, his sister by his side. Her presence made home whenever he was with her.::
NIGHTCRAWLER
Kurt thought for a moment, studying the other man. It was difficult to tell his age but his words triggered a memory. He had talked to Wanda some days earlier and although he did not know much about her and still she had told him much, there seemed to be a similarity between these two. Was Pietro the brother she had spoken of? It might fit. Although Kurt didn´t socialise much within the mansion the two of them might have appeared here around the same time.
"Heißt Ihre Schwester Wanda?" he asked.
((Is your sister´s name Wanda?))
PIETRO
"Ja ist es. Haben Sie meine Schwester getroffen?" ::Pietro was somewhat surprised that Wanda had neglected to mention meeting this man. He seemed the sort that his sister would want to discuss, his kindness and genuineness worthy of praise.::
