Emily had allowed her parents to drag her to the concert of this Italian brass quartet, but now she realized she couldn't manage to sit the entire concert through. If anything, her interests in jazz music concerned other subgenres. Leaning over to her mother while everyone was applauding, she said, "I'm going to go out for a walk. I can't sit here anymore." Her mother looked at her with mild bewilderment but said nothing, just nodded. Fetching her coat from the dressing room, Emily left the theater and simply headed down the street, having no specific place in mind to go to.

Aedan stood outside of his motel, not sure where he was in the city, but knew how to get out, and get back in if he needed. He placed his hands in his pockets, where he touched the piece of paper given to him by Emily the day before. He pulled it out, glanced at the number, and decided to give her a call.
Pulling out his cell phone, he dialed her number, and waited for her to answer.

Emily glanced at her cellphone, seeing an unfamiliar number. "Hello?" she asked, slowing her step down a bit.

Aedan sighed briefly before clearing his throat away from the phone. "Hey.. It's Aedan." He said, his accent more thick from the time he spent in Ireland. "How are you?"

Bored was probably the right word right now, but Emily wouldn't admit it. "I'm fine," she said, unconsciously shrugging as she spoke.

Aedan leaned his head back against the building, the cell phone pressed against his ear. "Are you busy? Is it a bad time?"

"No, actually," Emily said, "I just got out of one rather boring thing and managed to escape for a short while."
She looked around, thinking where to go. Some shop, maybe? or a cafe?

Aedan sighed. He knew he sounded pushy, and he didn't mean it that way... but he hadn't seen anybody he had known since coming back. "Could we meet up somewhere then, by chance?" He asked, covering his face with his hand as he waiting for a reply.

"Well, I don't know," Emily said. "Right now it all depends where. You're in Manhattan?"
She could feel her voice quiver ever so slightly; she wasn't sure she was calmly and surely up for that meeting, but could find no valid reason to avoid him.

Aedan looked around the area. He honestly wasn't sure, but he figured he could find anywhere she decided to go. "Aye, I think so."

"You think so?" Emily asked, halting. "That really isn't making any decisions easier..." She looked around. "I'm on the corner of 8th Avenue and Christopher street, if you want to take a cab."

Aedan chuckled nervously. "Gimme a break, I'm not exactly used t'this place yet. I'll be there as soon as I can." He chuckled again, hailing a cab with his free hand.

"Okay," Emily said. "Just give me another call when you get here, I'll probably find some place to sit down, the weather is not exactly welcoming for a walk..."

Aedan chuckled again. "You got it." He said, before hanging up the phone and getting into a cab. He gave the driver the area and he began making his way towards the intersection Emily was waiting at.

Emily chose a nice café nearby; she needed some lunch, anyway. Ordering salad and hot chocolate, she glanced out onto the street. It was still raining a bit, not that she was in any way bothered by it, but her mood was a bit down - from this, from the boring concert, from the need to be here.
Studying the street, she thought about Aedan and how strange it was that he insisted on seeing her again. She really didn't know what to make of it. After all, they weren't such nice friends, to begin with - not the kind that miss each other and hurry to meet after some time apart. That was really inapplicable here.
