((OOC: This takes place between three weeks and one month before current events on the board. This takes place before dawn the morning after the Maximoff twins arrive at the school first looking for Magneto))
::The moon shone bright in the sky, pale light reflecting off the windshield as Pietro drove the rental car back towards the grounds of the school. The deed was done; vengeance had been theirs. How sweet it had been, to have Magneto at their mercy. Even now he could feel his father's skin, his jaw beneath his knuckles.
As violent as his revenge had been, it paled in comparison to Wanda's. Between the two of them, he was certain Magneto wouldn't be found or seen for weeks, perhaps months. The Old Man deserved that, deserved more, for all the pain he had inflicted on them, for the years of abuse and neglect.
The drive was long and it gave him time to reflect. The encounter had left him energized. Despite the late hours, the jet-lag and the lack of sleep, Pietro knew he wouldn't sleep; even if he hadn't been driving. Wanda sat beside him in the passenger seat, dozing. The use of her powers often left her drained. He drove on in silence, gazing at the moon and the road ahead...
...Hours passed and Pietro drove the car up the long driveway of the school. It was oddly familiar, beyond simply the memory of driving their the day before. He couldn't place the feeling, decided it was simply deja vu, and dismissed it. Now wasn't the time for sentimentalism.
He parked the car in the long driveway and reached out to gently wake Wanda.:: "We've returned to the school, Sister."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:33pm
Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked to Pietro. "We're back at the school?" She must have been out the entire drive back. Using her powers like she did always left her tired, but it was well worth it.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:35pm
"Yes, there wasn't any traffic so I sped," ::Pietro replied, unfastening the seatbelt and turning off the engine. He watched his sister with concern.:: "Can you walk, or would you rather I carried you?"
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:37pm
She shook her head, giving him a soft smile. "I can walk. What are we going to do here, again?" She yawned, and unfastened her seatbelt as well.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:44pm
"We're here to rest, and we have nowhere else," ::Pietro replied, returning her smile. It was immensely relieving to have had their revenge. Now they could rest, enjoy their freedom, and decide on what to do. Eastern Europe still wasn't safe; they would need to plan their futures away from home.
Pietro exited the car and shut the door behind him. Walking around to the other side of the car, he opened the door to the passenger seat, holding it open for Wanda.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:49pm
"True," she admitted. "I'd also like to ask the Headmaster here what on earth he was thinking when hiring his faculty." She got out of the car gracefully, nodding to Pietro in thanks for holding the door open. She smoothed out the wrinkles on her scarlet coat and stretched out muscles stiff from the ride.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 10:54pm
"I doubt he was. You know how weak Magneto can make others," ::Pietro replied, slamming the door shut. Magneto and his charisma; they had taken care of that. Nobody would follow him any time soon.
He stretched and went to the trunk, removing their luggage. Bags in each hand, he looked towards the school. That same feeling of familiarity...Pietro ignored it; he simply needed to sleep.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:03pm
She nodded. "He won't be doing anything of the sort anytime soon."
"Would you like me to carry something?" She pointed to the bags he was carrying. Wanda didn't want him to have to carry all of it.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:05pm
"No, just conserve your energy," ::Pietro replied. He didn't want his sister to over-exert herself, not after she had used so much of her power. Looking up at the mansion, he began the trek to the front door.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:15pm
She gave in; she was still a little tired, so she didn't want to argue. She was in too good a mood to do that. Hurrying to catch up to him, she matched his stride to the mansion. "I hope this Headmaster is a nightowl. But I have no qualms about waking him up, either."
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:21pm
"Nor do I, although we might want to consider not overstaying our welcome before we have a night's rest," ::Pietro replied; he slowed his pace to allow his sister to catch up to him. When they reached the mansion's front doors, Pietro checked for the door bell to ring. They had manners, after all.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:24pm
"True, I would like a good sleep at least," she admitted. Peering around, she saw the doorbell on the other side of the door and pushed it. A loud gong-like ring sounded behind the doors. "I don't think anyone can ignore that," she mused.

::Xavier had been in the kitchen, brewing a pot of coffee. He was very much the morning person; he'd risen with the dawn. Truth be told, he hadn't had real sleep the night before; emotions and pain had kept him awake. He knew the cause and had done his best to ignore it.
Just as he had been about to sip from his coffee mug, he heard the chime of the doorbell. It was too early for the mail or a delivery; most likely it was someone looking to enroll. Placing his mug down, he exited the kitchen and wheeled towards the front door.
He opened the door, finding himself face-to-face with the Maximoff twins. As Phoebe had told him, there they stood: a handsome couple indeed. They were older than when he had last seen them, but every bit as strong and self-assured as he remembered. Their souls still ached, but he knew their desire for revenge had been quenched in the last day.::

Had Wanda been carrying any luggage, she would have dropped it in surprise as she gaped at the person answering the door. "Uncle?" She asked incredulously. What on earth was he doing here?
Posted by The Man on Apr 7, 2007, 11:42pm
"Wanda," ::Xavier whispered, his voice heavy with emotion. He looked from her to her brother; they had been awake all night. They needed refuge and unknowingly had found their way home again. From her expression, she didn't remember the mansion well. It wasn't surprising; he had helped them bury quite a few memories before they had left for Europe. He wheeled forward, holding open his arms to take her into a warm embrace.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:46pm
She smiled, her confusion temporarily forgotten as she saw him come forward, offering himself for a hug. Same old Uncle. She leaned in, wrapping her own arms around him. "Missed you," she said quietly.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 7, 2007, 11:59pm
::Pietro's brow knit in confusion; what was their Uncle doing here? He pushed the question aside as he watched the other man embrace his sister. It was good to see him again, and it saved them having to track down his address. He lips curled into a smile as he waited patiently for his embrace, putting down the luggage on the ground.:: "As have I, Uncle."
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 12:08am
"And I you," ::Xavier replied to her, embracing her fiercely. He wouldn't tell them he knew what they had done; it wasn't his place. Instead, he would simply worry on their behalf and be glad to see them again. It had been far too long.
After a few moments, he released her and turned to Pietro, holding his arms open for the young man. He resembled his father strongly, and for a brief moment, Xavier's thoughts drifted to another time in this foyer, staring at a different man, one whose face Pietro nearly wore. Their looks and tempers aside, the young man had little in common with his father, for which Xavier was grateful.:: "How have you been?"
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:13am
"We've been better," she replied honestly, watching Uncle embrace Pietro. She was glad they didn't have to go through the trouble of looking him up, but it still didn't banish some of the questions she'd been planning to ask. Such as why Magneto had been allowed to teach here.
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 12:16am
"I imagine," ::Xavier replied, his voice sympathetic. He knew the reason, although he was unaware of all details. As he embraced her brother, he gave the other man's back a gentle squeeze.::
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:23am
::Pietro leaned into Xavier's embrace. Their Uncle was always sentimental, with a focus on touch and caring. He knew the squeeze and returned it; Uncle was worried. As always. He let Wanda answer the question, grateful that there wasn't any further interrogation. Although he was proud of what they'd accomplished, he was weary and didn't want to start a debate. He added, his voice quiet as Wanda's,:: "We were hoping for a room."
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 12:36am
"Of course," ::Xavier said, releasing the other man from his embrace. There were two spare rooms he could give them; they undoubtedly needed rest.:: "There are two guest rooms near the dormitories. The students are still asleep, so you won't be disturbed."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:40am
"If it's not too much to ask, Uncle, may Pietro and I share a room?" It would save him a room that he could give to a student. Maybe it was childish, but she didn't want to be without her brother. The comfort of his presence was too great to give away willingly, and it wouldn't be the same if he simply had a room close to her own.
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 12:44am
::Xavier wasn't particularly surprised by her request; the twins had always been close. It was a product of their emotional scarring. They needed to be near one another, assured that they weren't alone. He nodded his head in assent.:: "Of course. Do you remember where the rooms are?"
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:46am
She frowned in thought, trying to remember exactly where in the mansion the dorm-style rooms were located. "I think so... do you remember, brother?" She asked, turning to Pietro.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:53am
::Pietro thought to himself, trying to remember the lay-out of the mansion. It had been years since they'd last been here; the mansion had seemed different then. Fewer people, everyone had their own room. After a minute, he nodded.:: "Yes, upstairs down the the hall."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 12:57am
"We can find ourselves an unoccupied room, Uncle, don't let us interrupt you any further," she said, turning back to Xavier.
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 1:03am
"Would you like some breakfast before you go?" ::Xavier asked gently. He felt their exhaustion; rest should be their first priority. Still, what sort of parent would he be if he didn't at least offer them something to eat.:: "There's a room the last door on the left which has clean linens."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 1:08am
"No thank you," she refused politely. "I think we need to catch up on a few hours of sleep first." She didn't know if Pietro was tired or not, but she was. "Unless you wanted to eat, while I found a room?" She asked, turning to Pietro.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Apr 8, 2007, 1:17am
::Pietro shook his head. He'd rather help Wanda to bed than eat alone. There would be time later to eat.:: "No. Thank you, Uncle, but we need rest."
Posted by The Man on Apr 8, 2007, 1:24am
"Rest then," ::Xavier replied with a nod. He smiled softly at them.:: "When you awaken, you know how to find me."
