::Pietro Maximoff stepped out of the rental car and slammed the door behind him. He ignored the bags in the back seat. Business before pleasure. And he could always fetch them later. It took half a second.
Walking around to the side of the car, he graciously opened the passenger door for his twin sister Wanda. When she stepped out, he took her hand in his. The expression on her face matched his own, anger, frustration. Anger at Magneto and frustration for the fact that they had traveled all the way from Eastern Europe to Westchester New York. Because of Magneto.
All had been going well. Europe had been largely non-spoiled by the mutant problems in America. Most of the European governments had written off the attempts at mutant registration as American intolerance. Magneto had been put in custody and no other incidences of violence had hit International news since the events of Liberty Island.
That was until Alcratraz. The mutant war against the government, the innocent lives lost. Magneto had broken out of prison. He had killed people, used people, tried to harm a child. Europeans emphasized family values and religion above all else. The mutants harmed families, because they attacked children. And they went against the Church, because Magneto had proclaimed them to be Gods.
The relief in the aftermath had been brief. When the Cure was found to be only temporary, it had swept across the land, bringing with it Anti-mutant backlash. Violence at the worst of times, scorn at the best.
Pietro and his sister had never flaunted their mutancy. But neither had they hid it. When it was necessary to use powers, they did. Otherwise, they left well enough alone. But their reputations preceeded them. And when they entered a tavern one night, searching for supper, the watier had refused to serve them. Mutants weren't allowed, they had been told.
Much like his father, Pietro had a temper. Unlike his father, Pietro took care of those who loved him and whom he loved in return. He knew Wanda was hungry and that was motivation enough to be firm with the staff. He'd approached the bar tender, demanding service. The demand had escalated into a shouting match about morality and liberty. And had deteriorated into a fight when the bar tender noticed his white hair and strong features. His resemblance to Magneto, still at large. He might be possessed of quick speed and reflexes, but he hadn't expected that first punch. With his free hand, Pietro rubbed his swollen cheek, memory bringing back pain.
They had fled, the tavern, the country. Moving back west, to a somewhat more civilized land. There they had heard of a mutant underground and attended a meeting. Then two, then three. Until they found the information they wanted. Magneto's location. Teaching at a school for gifted children. Gifted, of course, a codename for mutant. But the idea that the man could be allowed to teach, when he couldn't even rear those he had sired. It nauseated Pietro.
They had flown immediately to America, then rented a car to drive to Westchester.. And here they were, prepared for a confrontation. With the man who had rubbed them of their childhoods. And just when they thought he was behind him, he'd managed to ruin all they had made for themselves.
Giving Wanda's hand a squeeze, he led her through the grounds, passing students and flora. He barely noticed, his thoughts focused on finding Magneto..::

Phoebe had seen the couple get out of the car. The man had shock white hair and strong facial features; he reminded her of Professor Lensherr. The woman, on the other, had darker hair and a red trenchcoat.
She was reluctant to approach them; they looked, for lack of a better term, p*ssed, but at what she didn't know. Considering everything going on and all the crap Professor Xavier already had on his plate, she decided to talk to them.
"Hey," she said. "You guys lookin' for someone?"

::Pietro whirled around at the sound of a voice, then glanced at Wanda apologetically. If he moved too quickly, he could yank her arm from her socket. He faced a young girl, no more than mid teens, sixteen, maybe. With red hair, like Wanda. Pietro's first thought was to wonder how many b*stard children Magneto had. After a second, he dismissed it. This was a school. She was probably a student.
What could he say? They weren't here to make waves. He was there to punch Magneto hard in the jaw. Then to hold him down and let Wanda have her turn. The girl looked afraied. He knew he looked angry. Pietro tried to clear his expression, but couldn't quite succeed. When he spoke, his words were tinged with an accent.:: "Yes. Magneto. Is he here?"
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 9, 2007, 10:18pm
Phoebe sighed and nodded. "He's supposed to be, anyway," she said. "But he might be at Alkali Lake with Rogue. They go there on the weekends sometimes." Her nose twitched in distaste. "He'll be back eventually, though," she added. "He always comes back. He hurt you, too?"
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 9, 2007, 10:26pm
"You could say that," ::Pietro replied. Rogue must be a girlfriend. Maybe a wife. The thought raged inside him. How DARE Magneto try to find a moment of happiness after all the people that he'd hurt. Pietro felt the beginnings of a headache. And juding by the girl's reaction, she wasn't too happy about the thought either.
Severe jet lag combined with driving for so long made Pietro forget what day it was. She'd said he was gone for the weekend. Damn him.::
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 9, 2007, 10:32pm
Phoebe considered the pair. Finally, she said, "Come on. You guys look tired and hungry. The Professor's busy at the moment, but I don't mind showing you around, if you'd like."
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 9, 2007, 10:40pm
::Pietro couldn't answer for his sister, but he wasn't hungry. He was angry, growing angrier by the moment with the news that Magneto was away. It just wasn't fair. Perhaps, and the thought sickened him, Pietro had inherited his father's dramatic flair. But it seemed anti-climactic to wait around the school for Magneto to return.
Pietro turned to Wanda, silently asking her if she wanted a tour. Ever since they had been abandoned, they made decisions together. He refused to become Magneto, to take advantage of people. And he would never take advantage of Wanda, not even for a moment.
She didn't seem adverse to the idea, and he knew she was as tired as he was. He tightened his grasp on her hand, as though he were afraid they might be split up. Then he turned back to the girl, nodding. Still a thought nagged at him.:: "He's gone for the whole weekend?"
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 9, 2007, 10:47pm
Phoebe sighed. "I don't know," she said. "He's just been disappearing a lot lately, with Rogue, and there's a rumor going around that he's got himself a cabin up at Alkali. I can show you to his room, though, if you want to do some damage to take out your frustration. I've never been inside, but I know where it is. Or roughly, anyway." She shrugged.
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 11:11am
She turned to Pietro. It wasn't of any use to see their father's room if he was not in it. She had no desire to poke in his belongings right now. "What do you want to do?" She asked, a german accent evident in her voice.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 11:25am
"I believe we have no choice but to stay until Monday," :::Pietro replied to his sister. Ransacking through Magneto's room would do nothing to solve the problem or to even make a dent in his frustration. He knew it was the same with her.::
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 2:06pm
She nodded, her face grim. "I guess we'll have to." While it did seem somewhat anti-climactic to sit around and wait for the damned man to come back, she didn't see any other option open. Plus, the idea of how he was going to look when he came back and saw them... it gave her a rather twisted feeling of glee.
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 10, 2007, 2:19pm
Phoebe was at a loss. Normally she could persuade people to relax, or at least rest, but these two seemed...well, Hell-bent on confronting Magneto. She didn't know what to do. She didn't want to interrupt the Professor; plus, Doctor McCoy had asked her not to. But these guys weren't going to relax. Finally, she said, "If you want, I could get you directions to his cabin at Alkali Lake."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 2:42pm
For the first time in a long time, Wanda did something she thought she'd almost forgotten how to do. She smiled. "You would do that for us?" It seemed like a sensible idea; she did not want to remain here broiling with anger, it could possibly get out of hand. And she had nothing against the school or the people who lived here. She looked at Pietro, squeezing his hand. "It seems like the best option for right now, don't you think?" She knew he felt the same, and would want to seek out Magneto now.
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 10, 2007, 2:51pm
Phoebe nodded, relieved that the two didn't look like they were pained by the idea. "Lemme get a piece of paper and a pen, and I'll draw you a map."
With that, she disappeared insided the entryway, knowing that there was pen and paper next to the door. She quickly drew a crude, but effective, map on a notepad, tore it off, and wrote directions on the back.
Returning outside, she handed it to the woman. "Here ya go," she said. "I put instructions on the back because it's not the best representation of how to get there."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 3:01pm
She accepted the piece of paper, looking at the crude drawing before reading the directions on the back. It wasn't too far of a drive, and if Pietro wanted to check if he was there, he could do so in a minute. She handed the paper over to her brother, watching his face carefully as he read the paper. "What do you think?" She asked, squeezing his hand gently. From the map, it looked doable, and it wasn't like the distance would bother them. They'd already flown to America, they might as well go the rest of the way.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 11:40pm
::Pietro returned the squeeze of his sister's hand, looking down at the paper. It wasn't as far off as he had first imagined. And if they interrupted Magneto doing something personal, all the better. He certainly deserved no comfort in the wake of his actions.:: "I think we have no choice."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 11:45pm
She nodded. "Shall we, then?" She wanted to get there as soon as possible. Every moment that that man spent obliviously content was enough to drive her mad. She wanted to pay him in kind for everything he'd done, and soon.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 10, 2007, 11:48pm
"Yes," ::Pietro replied, pocketing the instruction sheet. It would be cumbersome to drive, since he could run so much faster. But to lull Magneto into a false sense of security by simply seeing a car, thinking perhaps it was a new recruit or a person he could torment. It would be worth it.
Pietro had better manners than his father and turned to the girl. He couldn't bring himself to smile, he was too angry. But the girl had been helpful and that mattered.:: "Thank you."
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 10, 2007, 11:57pm
"You're welcome," she said. "I hope whatever vendetta you have to settle is done...quickly." She gave the pair a half smile. "Oh, and, um...be careful," she added. "Too many have already been hurt because of that guy, me and my dad included."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 12:00am
"As do I," she replied, serious. Her frown deepened at the mention of this girl being hurt by that man. "I'm sorry for what he's done to you." It was another thing to add to the growing list of those hurt by him. Each one made her angrier.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 12:02am
::Pietro was about to turn, pulling Wanda with him.He hoped to begin the vendetta soon, but he hoped to make it last a long time, and for the memory to last forever. Yet, he couldn't just leave. The girl hadmentioned her father and it caught his attention. His eyes seemed to flash with anger.:: "Your dad, does he love you?"
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 12:07am
She nodded. "Yeah," she said. "It's my mom I gotta watch out for," she added with a chuckle.
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 12:10am
Her eyes darkened slightly. "You're lucky to have a father who cares for you," she said bluntly. She chose to ignore the comment about the girl's mother. If only she and Pietro had had the opportunity to meet theirs. He was responsible for taking away that opportunity as well.
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 12:12am
There was something in the way the woman had said that, that made Phoebe feel as if she had some personal experience with abusive or neglectful fathers, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she nodded. "Yeah," she replied. "I know."
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 12:14am
::Pietro knew the feelings Wanda had. He shared them. and his frown deepened accordingly. He wished that they'd had the opportunity to know the love of one parent. But Magneto hadn't allowed it and that was why they had come. Pietro gave her hand a squeeze, to let her know he understood.:: "We shall avenge you as well."
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 12:19am
"Thanks," she said. "But I don't hold a grudge. I found my dad." She shrugged. "That's all I care about."
She looked up suddenly, and said, "Anyway, you guys better get going if you want to make it before dark. And, if you need a place to stay later, I don't think the Professor would mind you staying here." Oddly enough, though she didn't promote killing, she had no qualms about letting the pair take out their anger on Magneto. In fact, she was encouraging it.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 12:37am
::They did need to go. Pietro didn't care about the sun, but he wanted to find Magneto as soon as possible. As for lodging, they were too old to even try to pass as students, but if they needed refuge and the principal was willing, he wouldn't turn down a free room.
But the girl had helped them and Pietro couldn't leave with getting a name.:: "We will. May I have your name?"
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 12:55am
She smiled. "Phoebe Malkin," she said. "Or, if you prefer, FireStorm. May I have yours?" She was truly curious about these individuals, and wanted to know more about them.
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 1:07am
She took in the girl's name. She had not heard the name Malkin, but she stored it in the back of her mind for later. She looked at Pietro, and figured no hurt could come of telling her their names; they didn't carry his last name, after all. "I am Wanda, and this is Pietro," she said, hesitating to tell the girl Phoebe that they were brother and sister.
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 1:09am
"Wanda and Pietro," she repeated with a nod. "I'll tell the Professor you stopped by." She smlied.
Posted by Pietro Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 1:23am
::Pietro saw no harm in that. She knew of their intentions, but she had still given them directions to find Magneto. She wouldn't try to stop them. And even if she did, she had only their first names and he was Quicksilver. If safety demanded it, he would run Wanda to safety and survive her complaints. Besides, if they were to stay the night, this Professor of hers had a right to know they existed.:: "Thank you."
Posted by Phoebe on Mar 11, 2007, 1:25am
She nodded. "Good luck," she said. "You might need it."
For once, Phoebe was glad the cure existed. If Rogue had her powers, they wouldn't stand a chance in close combat. Thankfully, she didn't. She did kind of feel guilty, though, and added, "And, if you could, try not to hurt Rogue."
Posted by Wanda Maximoff on Mar 11, 2007, 1:32am
"Thank you," she said, accepting the wish for luck. Even if she didn't know exactly what they were planning on doing. It was best left unsaid anyways. At the mention of this 'Rogue' again, her eyebrows knit together, frown deepening. "I cannot promise anything, especially if she gets in our way. But I will keep your request in mind."
And with that, the two of them got back into the car, Wanda acting as navigator, both intent on reaching this cabin as fast as possible.
::Pietro Maximoff stepped out of the rental car and slammed the door behind him. He ignored the bags in the back seat. Business before pleasure. And he could always fetch them later. It took half a second.

She smiled. "Phoebe Malkin," she said. "Or, if you prefer, FireStorm. May I have yours?" She was truly curious about these individuals, and wanted to know more about them.

"Wanda and Pietro," she repeated with a nod. "I'll tell the Professor you stopped by." She smlied.
