Gambit decided he'd been putting his visit to the Hellfire Club off for too long. He had to appear there sooner or later, and the sooner he took care of that, the better it was, in his opinion. Nodding briefly to his bouncers, he stepped into the club, taking in its familiar afternoon appearance.

Once again, Emma was sat in the club, always gathering information, assessing others telepathically for news. It was fragmented at best and did nothing to point her in the direction of Gambit. She knew Set was out there somewhere, trying to do his own work in behalf of the search, but she hadn't heard from him in a while.
Then, suddenly, the search was over, as her telepathy picked up on a familiar individual. Her eyes snapped to the entrance where she saw the man himself enter. As bold as brass, setting foot into the Hellfire Club. She remained seated in her booth, slightly darkened by shadows. Her eyes were locked on him, and she wondered if he would notice her.

Gambit knew he was to expect Emma to be around, so it didn't take him long to spot her when he scanned the hall. He strolled over to her and casually leaned against the wall opposite of her. "Why chere," he said, "long time no see."

Emma's eyes followed him as he drew closer. "Remy," she noted simply as he sauntered over. "You're a slippery one to get hold of."

"An' I take it you've already tried?" Gambit smiled.

"Naturally," said Emma as she watched Gambit carefully. "So, are you going to tell me where you've been?"

"No," Gambit said, "it can't be dat interestin'." He glanced at the seat across from her. "I'll get myself a drink an' join ya, chere."

Emma watched him contemplatively before she nodded her head. "You do that. I'll have a dry white wine."

Gambit walked over to the bar, using the opportunity to debrief the bartender who was currently there. He got the same general picture as earlier over the phone; that was either comforting or worrying, depending on what Emma had been doing at the Club lately and what liberties she had been taking with the staff.
He returned to her table with a glass of wine for her and a gin for himself. "So what brings ya here t' my humble place?" he asked, sitting down and leaning back. The sarcasm was barely noticeable; he couldn't afford to tease her into exasperation. The White Queen could be useful if he played her right.

"Oh, don't be so coy, Remy," said Emma as she took her drink, bringing it to her lips to take a sip of the wine. "It doesn't suit you." Lowering the glass to the table, she looked at him head on. "You didn't seem surprised to see me."

"Dere been a word 'bout your visits here among de staff," Gambit said. "You weren't tryin' to be too inconspicuous."

"Can't a girl come back to her favourite haunt?" asked Emma nonchalantly as she ran a finger across her wine glass.

"Who says she can't?" Gambit smiled. "Especially if she's obviously had some strenuous business that has been keepin' 'er away from her favorite haunt for so long," he added.

She inclined her head slightly in a small nod. "Precisely," she mused with a small smile. "So, let me try again, Remy. Where've you been?"

"Here an' dere," Gambit shrugged. "Why would it interest ya so much? Isn't de fact dat I'm right here, next t' ya, satisfyin' enough?" he gave her a smirk that was as charming as it was self-confident.
