Gambit once again noticed that he kept easily forgetting that Shade did not have all of her memories anymore. This wasn't nice.
In the meantime, the master returned his attention to them. "The preliminary work will take two weeks," he said. "Think about details before that and come back for a tryout."

Shade looked up and nodded, handing him the piece of paper. "This is a first idea," she said to the man. "I guess you can envision it better than I can."

The master took it, studying it seriously, with a habit of seeing such drawings. "Uh-huh," he said after a moment's thinking. "This is doable. We'll see how it looks on the first version."
"Two weeks, den," Gambit nodded, standing up. "Thanks," he nodded to the man and lead Shade out of the building.

Two weeks sounded like a reasonable, believable time to get something like that ready, especially since it seemed all hand made, but Shade still found herself a bit impatiently giddy as they left the building. "That was...interesting." she said. "I´m going to look totally badass in this."

"Yes you are," Gambit confirmed with a confident mien. "Except, of course, your aim is not to look anythin' at all," he added, meaning her powers. "But, as far as I know, knowin' ya look badass really adds to your confidence, which is a nice boost."

Shade gave a small shrug, feeling in a good mood. "Well, far as I remember I´ve never had something so...superheroesque, so that´s something new." she said. "Speaking of which," she then added, shoving him playfully in the side with her shoulder. "were we heading out here for this only or were you planning on torturing me some more?"

"Nothin' physical right now," Gambit said, walking over to the car and opening the door before getting in, "I'll take ya to see some weapons, see what ya think." He got in and started the car.

Shade got into the car and buckled the seatbelt, shooting him a short glance. She wasn´t irked by this, because weapons did not necessarily mean guns and even if it were guns, they had distablished her viewpoint on those already. When she looked at him from the corner of her eye for a moment, she got a feeing that he was surely having some fun with this. Sure, his primary reason to do this certainly was to help her to protect herself which fitted the overall image she had of him so far, but the way he acted around her, the way she got along with him and the few things she recalled about him told her he was the sort of guy who would actually have fun with such stuff, also probably because he knew Shade herself would not back out of it because it sounded exhausting or difficult or like something she hadn´t tried before. He looked like a guy who wouldn´t cut her any slack, because she was a woman like some men deemed necessary and corteous, she had thought that a few times already in recent days and liked that about him. A lot.

Catching a whiff of her mood, Gambit glanced at her and gave her a wink. He pulled out onto the street, heading back to Manhattan. There was one place he knew would cater to most of their needs at the moment...

As they drove along, Shade leant over and switched on the radio, catching a song from last summer, one that everyone had listened to about a thousand times already and that everyone had grown tired of but that caught her ear as being totally new and catchy so she drummed her right hand against the side of the car as they headed towards Manhattan. She was in a good mood, temporarily wondering whether her emotional state these days had to do with it, remembering the more positive things. Quote possibly it was, maybe the fact that Gambit deemed it safe enough for her to actually do things outside the apartment also added to it.

Gambit was just about to open his mouth and say that he wasn't going to listen to that, but then he remembered that Shade had probably never heard it. So he had to put up with "I Kissed a Girl" while the car was making its way out of Brooklyn.

They kept driving for a bit with Shade casually leaning her head against the window, humming along to random radio songs many of which she had never heard before, trying to get their tune right.
Eventually, they were heading into Manhattan and she noticed only then that she had not been here before, at least to her memory. She had probably been here so often that things had stopped to be interesting for her, but the only time she could recall being here really was the night of the murder and the night after and she had not really had much of an eye for the city then and mostly kept away from Manhattan. The memory she had covered times which she had either spent at the Institute, in Tunisia or at random other places, but not in New York City, except a shopping trip she had done with Rogue before her holidays. So while they drove, she looked outside the window, taking in her surroundings, partly because she wondered whether it would help her remember, partly because in a way this was the first time, or felt like it.

Gambit drove to Upper West Side, smiling a little a Shade's humming and good mood. He pulled up at a building, where a sign above the shop on the ground floor said, "Ron's ...", with the second word missing for a few years already. It didn't matter - the clients knew the place anyway.
He lead Shade inside, heading past the rows of guns and stacks of ammo. This wasn't their primary interest now, but the shop could still be of use.
"Anything I can help you with, sir, ma'am?" the shop assistant looked at them.
"Yeah," Gambit said. "Anythin', beside de firearms."

Had Shade had her full memory, she would have been aware of the fact that Gambit was apparently basically showing her around the places that supplied him with all the neccessary stuff for his thieving - information that, in the right..or rather, wrong hands, could be used against him possibly. Something that also showed that he apparently trusted her. Shade with full memory would have known how secretive he usually was, something that Shade right now had started to get an idea of both, during the last couple of days and through what so far she could already recall about him and the two of them.
When they entered the building and Shade had a look around, she probably for the first time noticed in full scale ever since she had recalled that detail about him, that he was indeed, as she had put it in her guess a few days after the murder, involved in "shady stuff". He was a thief, she knew that now, a criminal as he himself had put it, yet she could not find any feeling in her that made her reject him for it. She had grown up in a sheltered life where crime was seen as what it was...crime. But something had made her think differently when it came to him. She wondered what exactly it was. Was it because the whole thief thing gave him some sort of adventurous charme that only added to what was already attractive about him? Or was it because to her the thief was just one aspect of Gambit and not the one she judged him by? It was difficult to tell and once more she had the feeling that her full memory would have provided her with more answers than just a few ´maybes´.
She had a look around the place, taking notice that he remembered her not being too thrilled about guns and left the talking to him for the moment, curious of what else the shop (for lack of a more appropriate word) might have to offer.

"Knives?" the shop assistant suggested, wondering in which direction to start thinking.
"Self-defense," Gambit explained. "Anythin' from tasers to heart attacks." A 'heart attack' was actually a small self-defense weapon, similar to brass knuckles, but Shade would hardly know that.
"Ah," the shop assistant nodded and started pacing back and forth, gathering the assortment to offer and providing a small explanatory commentary for every item. He produced stun guns, pepper sprays, knives and disguised knives, kubotans, 'heart attacks' and even shurikens.
"Something of these?" he asked finally. "Or smaller, bigger?"
Gambit glanced at Shade, wondering if she wanted any say in the matter.
