"Again with the old man talk, you're only thirty-four, you act like an any moment you'll sprout grey hair and be branishing a cane," Iris said waving playfully at Kurt before she began pulling pins from the dress and sticking them in her mouth.
"Mmmrp," she tried to add before looking annoyed at herself and taking the pins out of her mouth and sticking them in a pin cushion balanced on the arm of the couch. "Age means nothing to mutants, some will live short, some will live a long timee. Myself, I am young in body and mind, but my soul feels old, like it's experienced much before this lifetime."

Kurt gave a short snort at her age remark, his eyes flashing in humorous reproach for a moment. "That´s true." he said, referring to her mention of different life expectancies for mutants. "but you know what I meant."

"Of course, I only poke fun at a conversation point that comes up between us a lot," Iris said turning the fabric over in her fingers, tracing the lines of thread she had sewn with her fingers, following the pattern. Her eyes became unfocused a moment as she saw past the thread underneath her fingers and into the strands that connected through the entire dress.
Statisfied by the web work she had seen with her powers, her eyes became focused again and she blinked several times before glancing back up at Kurt. "So are you planning to attend the dance as well? We're always looking for someone who will keep an eye on the students and insure that no ill will goes against the punch."

He was a bit surprised at her question. He didn´t mind people too much, especially since this was an event that was taking planned here, at the mantion, yet he had not expected a quesiton like this and gave a soft chuckle. "i was thinking it was more of something for the students." he said.

Iris laughed and shook her head, "Well yes, partically. Pixie and I wanted to throw a dance to help with the winter boredum around here that strikes many of the students. Of course we had our own agendas, she likes a party, and I like to design fancy dresses. It's a win win situtation," she shrugged a little hoping that Kurt wouldn't think that Pixie and her were selfish for doing this.
"And I wouldn't see why the adults couldn't have fun as well. It's just one night, everyone needs a brek from their problems."

Kurt gave a shrug at this. "Of course." he said. "but if I just have to watch the punch so kids don´t temper with it, it does not sound like that much fun." He was joking a bit of course. He wasn´t that much of a party person so it was very likely he´d leave the dance to the kids.

Iris stared at Kurt for a few moments, her lips twitching a little as she seemed to find something funny. "Was ist dies, der unglaubliche blaue Elf nicht sich freuend auf einen Tanz? Aber was könnte der Grund sein? Nicht vielleicht weiß er wie zu tanzen?" she asked before laughing.
"No foxtrot, no waltz, rumba, swing? How tragic," Iris said and waved a hand, "No worries, push comes to shove you can always do that dance the students do now, grinding I think it's called," she teased.

Kurt felt one of his ears twitch. He had never been too much of a dancer and dancing at a school dance didn´t really sound like something he would easily agree to or feel all ton enthusiastic about. "I can dance a little," he said. "It´s just not something I like doing very much." Now and then he would dance with Wanda on rare occasions or just when they felt like it, but that was usually it.

"Hm, a shame," Iris said and went silent as she went back to sewing, she did stop to hold the dress up to herself. "It's getting to where I want it," she murmured to herself and continued sewing. She then expanded on what she meant, "Well I shouldn't expect much, not everyone had a grandmother who was enthusiastic when it came to dancing. Now that I think about it, she was the only dance partner I had, which might be strange on its own."

Kurt had covered down with his back leaning against the window frame so he could look out onto the grounds occasionally, his pose bearing resemblance to some gothic gargoyle atop a cathedral. At her words, he chuckled lightly. "You know," he said. "in a world like this, hardly anything is truly strange anymore."

"No, it's not," Iris agreed looking out the window as well, "I can say is that I thought that after a life of seculsion that all this strangeness would be a shock. But not so much, I've accepted many mutants more then humans," she paused for a moment and chewed on her bottom lip as she thought.
"Which might in turn consider me worst then the humans with fears against mutants. I guess it could go two ways," she went silent again as she went back to the dress.

"It always goes two ways." Kurt agreed, once more looking out across the grounds. "Some of us fear them, just like some of them fear us. But there are others who don´t and they are more of a hope."

Iris was quiet again as she looked at Kurt. Little by little she was learning more and more about him. Sometimes when he just told a little of his past. Mostly, it was the way he spoke, a tone in his voice, the way he stood, or the expression on his face. She could spend the whole say listening to him talk, watching his face, teasing him, sharing ideas. She would spend a whole day studying and practicing German with him. These moments she found fleeting, but she thought back to them in her own quiet way fondly. Which was what she was destined to do, quietly, fondly, think of him from a distance. She was too young, unworldly, too silly, too shy to say a word to him.
Yet, she could be content with this, as long as he was near her, spoke to her, and looked at her.
She felt her throat choke a little, patience it was what she did best.
"Do you fear normal humans, or even mutants, like me?" she asked quietly.

Kurt turned to look at her, saying nothing for a moment, wondering where that question suddenly came from. he couldn´t tell, but then again he of course couldn´t look into her head.
"I used to be scared." he said. "mostly of humans. But not any more."

As Kurt turned and looked at her, Iris held his gaze for a few seconds, heat building in the bottom of her stomach before spreading to her cheeks. Then she had to look away finding it too intense. It caused her to stop thinking, for everything to slow, and she didn't know if she liked that.
She cracked a smile, smoothing a strand of hair behind her hair, "Funny I never saw myself as frightening," she teased a little.
